Hey speedcubers! Do you think it is really possible to be sub12 and do a sub7 solve with only 3LL method?
Fake or real?

'cause I saw this profil on Reddit :

Yep, at my best I was sub-13 with a 7s PB, and I don’t know full OLL so I consider myself 2.5-3LLL. I’m not particularly efficient or have high TPS so I think it’s entirely possible

          Interesting, and crazy.
I didn’t think it was possible.

But, maybe we would realize better if we all indicated exactly the number of OLLs. Cause:

          2-look OLL = 7 cases
half of OLL = 28 cases

Knowing 20 more OLL cases can do a big time difference, you do not believe?

Yeah it could be, but it might be dependent on which cases too maybe? I don’t even know how many OLLs I know/don’t know since I’ve stopped learning new ones a while back. What’s funny is I thought I knew most of OLLs so I considered myself 2.5LLL and then when I actually counted I’ve only learned about half, so maybe for that person that counts as 3LLL.

I just learned the ones that were easier to identify first. So maybe if that other cuber decided to learn ones that give them better efficiency, or higher probability of being used, then maybe you can shave off a bit of time.

i thought we never talk about experience and the total number of solves.
Did the cuber do 1 000 solves in his life? Or 10 000? Or 100 000?

                That’s an important point.

In theory, absolutely possible. Anyone sub-10 2LLL would probably be like sub-12 if they switched to 3LLL, and the record could’ve been an OLL skip, or even full LL skip.

In practice, really weird that someone dedicated enough to get that fast wouldn’t just learn full OLL. But maybe the person just hates learning algorithms and has focused on building really strong F2L intuition instead.

    Cube solved in 17 s…
… with LBL method, cross on top!

    Let me die.

    [EDIT]
I watched it several more times and, this time is fake.
Video was accelerated. You can see it on his left arm, and the black rectangle was placed there to hide the head of the woman who would have moved too quickly otherwise.
Maybe he also knew scramble and memorize some moves. I’m disappointed 😞
    Sorry.
