Bought and payed for. Fuck u/spez. Reddits now a tabloid and Lemmy’s the front page of the internet.
Your post brought me here! Thanks!
Hell yeah! Glad your here!
There are dozens of us.
Im glad you made it! Takes a little effort to get started but its worth it. And when people start to realize what coporate’s doing, lemmy will take off and its gunna be golden. Im so glad my post pulled some people in!
I always assumed a 1984-esque corporate information campaign was possible. It’s just weird that it’s here already…
Yeah it came quickly and quietly. Corporate consolidation, equity firms, and billionaire money have completly dismantled the internet. I feel like it started around the time net neutrality was overturned.
[removed by reddit]
The title certainly makes it sound like Reddit removed a post from Lemmy and not necessarily about Lemmy lol
Of course, Reddit has that “stay away from Lemmy” post first in search results.
Ironically now there’s another “I joined Lemmy and it’s awesome”
You really want to entice, drop the ‘it’s easier to use now’ and add other apps like Sync and such. I xamechere cause of 2 things, Sync and old.lemmy.world site skin. Show them that.
I love Sync and use it daily, but it’s probably a bad time to recommend it to new users. Unless ljdawson miraculously returns after his longest ever absence (over a year I think?) the app will stop working once Lemmy 1.0 rolls out, which is slated to be soon.
I’d recommend Summit, Voyager and Boost instead (even when the latter could break too if the dev doesn’t show up).
Heck, at this point Lemmy already delivers a better mobile experience because it actually supports 3rd party apps lol.
I personally never liked the way Voyager looks, though I know it’s popular. Boost is solid but I can’t live without gestures at this point. Keeping an eye on Summit, though. It’s still lacking some features and customization options I’d like, but the dev seems very active, responsive and open to user requests so definitely worth tracking.
I started using lemmy originally because of old.lemmy. It literally felt like what reddit was 14 years ago. Very nostalgic.
Reddit didn’t remove it, the moderators did. On Shreddit, there’s a note:
Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/YouShouldKnow.
It’s still available on your profile, I can still see it there. So clearly Reddit didn’t do shit.
Edit: While I’m looking at shreddit, looking at the rules in the sidebar, I think it was removed due to rule 3:
YSKs regarding Reddit, Facebook, Twitter or any other social media are NOT ALLOWED.
You should always look at a community’s rules first before posting, imo this removal is justified.
Funny rule to have. I wonder if this is one of the subs Reddit admins took over after the moderator exodus
Eh, I could see people lazily karma farming Social media YSK posts.
Well now that im looking at shreddit… How did you find that information? All it shows me is options to subscribe and automatically delete my post history.
edit: Nevermind. Its sh.reddit.com not shreddit.com
Oh right, I didn’t realize shreddit is an actual thing. It’s what I call sh.reddit.com, yeah.
That’s what I call sh.reddit. it’s a regional dialect
Yea but this is a reddit community on Lemmy so everyone i just going to exaggerate literally everything to push the agenda of “Reddit bad.”
To be clear, Reddit fucking sucks, but also these ragebait posts suck too.
Huh good to know. I didnt recieve any mod messages regarding a reason so figured admins removed it. Didnt know shreddit existed. Thanks for the info!
If it was removed a few days later its more then served its purpose. Folks looking at couple day old posts are a trickle compared to that initial rush.

At least it lasted that long, every time I post about Lemmy it’s so gatekept I get my post taken down within the hour
For anyone confused. Funbun is my new account. Figure id take others advice and let go of the internet identity I’ve held on to the last 20 years. My first post on lemmy was about this reddit post. With the death of the traditional internet and rise of open source federation it seems like a good time.
RIP rtardbunny, hello funbun.
Welcome, good on you for ditching the ableist slur username.
Yea thats the point of that comment. That was my old account. I am now funbun not sure how to delete old accounts yet. Just didnt want people think i was taking credit for someone elses post
Oh sorry i misread your comment!
nah you didn’t. I edited it after I noticed that the username in the comments was not the one in the OP.
Ohh gotcha! 😅
Cute dog
Thank you! The pup pic and the gsd/lab screaming are both Gunner (aka fun bun). The boxer is Scout (aka sweet pea).
We have a boxer too! Love those goobers.
Crazy amount of upvotes though? Surprised to see that so many like Lemmy on reddit!
It was cool to see such a surge in 24 hours. Alot of comments saying its “too hard to use” while ignoring guides and tips the lovely lemmy community provided me when it started gaining traction. Some had valid complaints others just wanted to hate on something new. It was great to see others commenting in support and defending lemmy. And pointing out other users who didnt read the post content on how to get started.
One of my favorite comments was someone claiming i was a shill for lemmy 😂
People really are gonna just “too hard to use” their way into an ad-filled, censored, unusable, toxic social media experience huh
Prove right now that you’re not a shill for Big Lemmy!
¡impending para un bending!
😂
You’re obviously being paid by Big Lemmy
It’s almost like user doesn’t know what the word actually means. Could very well be a young child.
“It’s literally hard to use.” Definitely a great mind
I don’t know about you, but my feed has been way more varied in the last few weeks than some months ago, that plus Summit for Lemmy (android client app) I am missing Reddit less and less each day.
Even when we are in a different echo chamber, I can clearly notice I am not being fed up with an algorithm, everything feels more organic here, is it missing less mainstream communities? For sure, but that will come with the time, I was hesitant when the APIcalypse, but each Reddit update I am more confident the future looks brighter on this side.
I definately feel what you’re feeling. My feeds are definitely more organic by default. When ive scrolled too far in a short amount of time, i then have the customizable feed sort options to lean on. Its better, you dont feel like you’re constantly fed someone else’s agenda.
I feel it too!
The fact that you have to screenshot the site instead of linking blah blah blah
80% of Reddit content is screenshots of tweets.
They can’t even make a coherent criticism, they just knew they wanted to criticise. Angry Pingu face it is I guess
Not to mention…80% of that 80% is cropped or slightly modified reposts. r/all is just rotating feed of top posts of the past 5 years mixed in with some political propaganda and current events.
I’ve seen people say not to recommend boost as the only closed source client
Yeah someone sent me a article and guide mentioning that info after i posted. I wasnt able to edit the title though. I did edit a link into the body of my post though. I literaly set up my lemmy that day so was a little green about all the info/guides. I was just super excited about sharing lemmy with the reddit community and didnt do enough reaearch. I did edit and comment as i discovered more info though.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with recommending Boost - it used to be a very well known and popular Reddit client before the API clampdown. I would wager mentioning it probably gets more traction and recognition than saying “look at all these FOSS apps we’ve got that you’ve never heard of” so in that sense it’s probably preferable. People on here are just really passionate about FOSS.
Thats a good point! Boost and sync were popular with reddit anf people miss their third party apps. Now we just need someone to take the RiF app and make it the LiF app.
Like this 😅
You did well, thank you!
