Well, if the 1798 Alien Enemies Act doesn’t drop the price of eggs, I don’t know what will.

Trump is really saving taxpayers money here: he didn’t even bother burning a government building to pretend he needed to invoke extraordinary powers. So we get full-blown dictatorship but without having to rebuild an expensive building.

    Thanks Herr Führer!

Fyi, John Adams was reluctant to sign because he knew that even though the Senate and the house both passed it, that it violated the constitution in that limited free speech or criticism of the United States or the government, and that it out balanced the three branches of government if the executive branch had the authority to order a deportation of an individual without courts or lawyers or an appeal ?

This is actually terrifying. People should be concerned about this.

    From the white house site:

Sec. 3. I direct that all Alien Enemies described in section 1 of this proclamation are subject to immediate apprehension, detention, and removal, and further that they shall not be permitted residence in the United States.

Sec. 4. Pursuant to the Alien Enemies Act, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, consistent with applicable law, apprehend, restrain, secure, and remove every Alien Enemy described in section 1 of this proclamation. The Secretary of Homeland Security retains discretion to apprehend and remove any Alien Enemy under any separate authority.

Sec. 5. All executive departments and agencies (agencies) shall collaborate with law enforcement officials of the United States and with appropriate State, local, and tribal officials, to use all lawful means to apprehend, restrain, secure, and remove Alien Enemies described in section 1 of this proclamation…

    [Emphasise mine]

“Don’t worry guys they’re only talking about this Venezuelan (socialist?) group nobody’s ever heard of. You’ll be fine!”

    Right.

Note that the third paragraph there seems to indicate the state and local (i.e. sanctuary cities) law enforcement will need to cooperate with this shit
