Participating in the community via Mastodon

The best experience is to make an actual Lemmy account (try lemmy.world or lemm.ee) and use an actual Lemmy client.

However, Lemmy communities are represented in Mastodon as Mastodon users. (“It’s ActivityPub all the way down.”)

To follow this community from Mastodon, search for “@nerdygurdybuilders@lemmy.sdf.org” in your Mastodon client and click the follow button just like you were following a regular Mastodon user.

Replying to the Fediverse URL of Lemmy posts/comments from your Mastodon account should show up in the Lemmy community as a comment.

To create a new top-level community post via Mastodon, make a Mastodon post and @-mention “@nerdygurdybuilders@lemmy.sdf.org” at the end of the post. The first line of your Mastodon post will become the Lemmy community post’s title.

This community is for for builders of the Nerdy Gurdy (nerdygurdy.nl) laser-cut/3D-printed hurdy gurdies. Feel free to seek advice, share tips and modifications, and show off your completed instrument. In order to keep this place on-topic, maximize its usefulness, and make it a welcoming place, there are a few simple rules.

Nerdy Gurdy content only. Sure, you can refer to other gurdies for the sake of comparison when commenting. But please keep all top-level posts about building and setting up Nerdy Gurdies.
Be nice. This is a community for us to help each other. Anything that would drive away people who have come here seeking advice will not be tolerated.
You are not a Nerdy Gurdy reseller unless Jaap says so. There are a select few authorized kit producers and resellers, and we know who they are. If you are not one of them, you will not sell kits you have manufactured yourself, or finished instruments that you have built with the intention of selling.
You may sell your own personal Nerdy Gurdy or unfinished kit. Please be as detailed as possible about which model/version you are selling, and disclose any modifications to or issues with your instrument. All sales must be transacted via a secure payment platform with buyer protections (PayPal, Venmo, etc.) Sales that require the buyer to choose the “friends and family” payment type are prohibited.
