I’m hoping to have access to a laser cutter in the near future, but due to scheduling conflicts most likely won’t be able to attend any hands-on instruction on how to use it. In lieu of that, I’m in search of any online resources on the general use of laser cutters. Is there anything out there that would be useful to a complete newb like myself?
Those look great. Thank you!
If you’ll be accessing it through a library system or maker lab, they will probably require you to take their training before letting you have access to it. If you can’t attend their trainings, reach out to them to see if they would even accept an alternative training source.
That said, I went to a Glowforge training provided by my library and it was basically: “here’s how to access the software, here’s where to turn it on, make sure to always turn the exhaust system on here, now what small tchotchkes do you want to make to take home tonight?” (we did a coaster)
They do have a required online course with no physical attendance necessary, which is good, but I expect it to be quite minimal like the one you described. Should help with the basics, though.
But I don’t want to waste my limited time while I’m there, so I’m hoping to find resources that can at least minimize the amount of trial & error I need to go through.
