  • Hi, I’m an European living in Asia, just arrived to SDF. In previous lifes I spent waaaay too many years working on GNU/Linux systems (mostly Debian based), some largish-scale FOSS deployments and a lot of cloud. Now after becoming tired of working with IT customers and corpos I have a bakery and use technology as a hobby.

Hello, I’m dctrud. I’ve been around SDF a bit since 2019… 15+ years after I initially joined (with a long forgotten login) at university. Software Engineer by day. I enjoy messing around with dance music on vinyl, walking, and sometimes cycling for fun.

Since we moved back to Cornwall in the UK, after 11 years in Texas, it makes sense for me to be on SDFeu now. Cheers!

I have a silly handle, expect silly comments.

I live in the UK. Occasionally I feel sad about that, but I miss English beer when I travel.

I’m learning lisp. My last job was maintaining Cthulhu’s python code.

I like old Jaguars, Tottenham Hotspur, Indian cuisine, Burning Man, 1960s Danish furniture, trees, ThinkPads, and sleeping as long as I fucking want.

I don’t like dancehall, social conservatives, or marvel movies. But I’ll try to keep an open mind about dancehall and marvel movies.

I am quat. I’m from Sweden and I enjoy typesetting in plain TeX and everything that has to do with old books. Once in a while I do some bookbinding too. I have never gotten past the Gnomish mines in Nethack.

Hey all, I’ve been an sdf-eu user since 2007, arpa member since 2011, so that’s 16 years already.

I’m interested in #boatbuilding #ttrpg #unix (obviously), health care professional by daytime. (are hashtags a thing on lemmy?)

My main fedi account so far is @lkh@octodon.social. I also have an rpg alternate, @wandererbill@tabletop.social, but recently I’ve gone back to read and post on good old usenet again 8-)

I hang out on irc.sdf.org on and off, and read our bboard now and then. I’m looking forward to see what other sdf-eu’ers write on the lemmy. Cheers!

I’m Holly and am new to SDF Europe. I’m in my late-30’s and am an extremely opinionated FOSS enthusiast. I daily drive Garuda Linux and I believe that RMS has not been wrong about a lot of things, particularly on privacy and software ownership (I mean, that’s most of what he talks about but still…). I have a homelab and self-host quite a few services. None are accessible from outside of the LAN because I’m super anxious and can’t handle the stress of that lol

I used sdf.org back in 2004 or so in community college. It was a UNIX class and the teacher supplied us with shell logins. I had noticed sdf.org domains in my Mastodon feed recently and booy was that a trip down memory lane. I registered and validated on sdfeu.org a few days ago (since I no longer reside in the US and can’t remember my login), and am thrilled to also see Mastodon and Lemmy instances. I’m quite attached to my home instances already, so I’ll be subscribing from afar.

On the shell side of things, I’ve been browsing the bboard, messing with the website stuff, and becoming familiar with the systems. I like it here so far and am excited!

Happy to be here! Norwegian here, 15 years on Reddit but now fed up. As an SDF member I’m happy that there’s a Lemmy instance now. The policy seems to be good so far – no defederation.
