Outside of replacing it when it’s dying, is love to have phone batteries in an external charger. Forgot to charge overnight? No problem, swap a fresh one in. Going on a long vacation and lacking a portable charging brick? Bring some spares. Friend’s phone dying and your battery is compatible? Loan it to them.

Nooooo you must buy zillion separate device from company. Don’t forget a few adapters because obviously nothing is ever compatible. And every few years: let’s invent a ‘new’ thing and have everyone upgrade their devices!

Wait… if its larger cause of the battery, does that mean there is enough space for the headphone jack ?

Even if there were truth to this, I’d happily buy a larger device to have the user replaceable battery. Of course, none of the big players offer that – because it’s really about cost cutting.

Rather than cost cutting it’s more about making you buy a whole new device when battery gets worse so they can get more money from you.
