Today it’s another bottle from my recent Arcana Wildcraft order. I’m wearing Phoebus (Notes: Smoked vanilla, sweet resins, red musk, marshmallow, and fiery woodsmoke). I’m getting major BPAL Snake Oil vibes from this! Even though it’s missing the patchouli, I could almost swear I put on the wrong perfume. Phoebus has that slightly smokey quality, it’s balanced really nicely with the vanilla and marshmallow to temper the sweetness. I’m curious to see if additional rest/aging brings out the smoke more.

I’m testing fragrance today! My sense of smell isn’t back to 100% yet, but it seems at least “good enough for now” and I’ve been itching to try these things. So, today I’ve got Fyrinnae Noche Calida on one arm and Scent of Dionysos on the other.

What I’ll say about Noche Calida is, if you like lychee, give this a try. It is lychee-y. I was hoping for more out of the other notes, but on me it’s just super juicy and sweet. After a few hours, it’s started to get a little bit more directly sugary, almost cotton candy-like, like if there were such a thing as lychee/pear-flavored cotton candy, which might be some of the myrrh influence. I’m really not getting any rose at all, which is disappointing (for me).

Scent of Dionysos is pleasant but I’m finding it just kind of generic and unremarkable on me. I’m mostly getting just sort of light, sweet, very slighly woody amber. If I concentrate, I do get a tiny bit of black pepper, too, but just barely. It might be a nice mixer with a tart, sharp citrus.
