As title, standard lemmy in browser…
There is an option in settings at least for me, ‘show read posts’ if you uncheck that they will disappear. It’s not an easy access toggle though unfortunately.
What are you using that has that option? I’m using liftoff but I don’t think it can do that
You can do that in Voyager. It has a button for that.
Jerboa has that option.
That’s just on lemmy.world website. But if I toggle that, it also changes what I see on Sync.
Sync also has a ‘hide read’ button although it unhides on page refresh - but it’s handy for quickly finding fresh posts.
RSS reader. Use it where ever you can, and live the rest of your life never having to re-skim a headline to figure out if you’ve read it or not.
I should give that a shot again. I love RSS, but I never found it useful on most subreddits because there was so much junk throughout the day. Seems like Lemmy might be a little less overwhelming since it doesn’t have the same population of users.
This might be a stupid question, but I’ll ask anyway: when using RSS feeds, can you set it up so that clicking through to the post takes you to the post on your home instance, or do you have to add a direct feed from the host instance?
If you use the RSS link provided by your home instance next to the filter controls, the links from it will be to your home instance. Just pick the filter you want and copy that link into your reader. Another great feature of that is the “Subscribed” feed. If you’re logged in, you’ll have a personalized link next to any “Subscribed” filter, as you join and unjoin communities you won’t have to change the link at all, it’ll just start and stop getting submissions from those communities.
Edit: I also just discovered the “Inbox” has an RSS feed. No more need to check the site for replies :)
Absolutely, I use freshRSS + modded rssbridge for niche stuff on the other site. Still giving lemmy a go with it’s interface, will eventually get sick of it tho…
For example clicking the plus sign doesn’t mark as read, boo.
Its* interface
Technically correct, best kind.
