Literally the entire fucking point of the new Twitter Blue was “You get a blue check.” That was 100% of the purpose of relaunching the subscription like they did.

And in the process they made the blue check into such a toxic badge of shame that now they have to give people the option to hide it just to be able to sell Twitter Blue on the other features (most of which are just dodging new restrictions) that they bolted on after the fact.
