  • For how old it is it’s still fun. Running and gunning is just such good gameplay. I don’t think it gets enough credit for being good. Sometimes I think the technological achievements and the devil edge lord stuff takes center stage.

I find Doom II most memorable. It was also absolutely terrifying to me as a kid, and I was afraid to go around corners and explore. I would just try to run through the level as quick as I could.

I remember the levels of Doom 2. When I was a kid I always would idclev to downtown.

But I do like the green marble hell levels of doom.

Doom was my first game I ever played. The deathmatch in this games is really great. I still appreciate the modding scene that is still going on.

It is also the only game I have made levels for too.

If you enjoy Doom (it’s still good! The current engine is great) you have to download myhouse.wad

Do it right now. Not tomorrow.

Don’t look up any info about it, just play it. You’ll either wonder “why” after you do, or you’ll be scratching your head over “how”.

Then dive into the videos about it and be even more amazed.

I would say read the text file before playing too.

Doom is probably one of the most important games in my life since it’s what got me into writing music, and programming. And of course making levels for games :-P

For me, Doom 64 remains my all time favorite. It captures the mood I imagine for Doom just perfectly, and it has some amazing level design. Episode 2 of the original Doom is also amazing.
