    • Hamas was elected to power by Palestinians in Gaza last time they had an election
    • 72% of Palestinians still approve of Hamas and October 7th
    • Hamas is comprised of Palestinians

These are not unrelated groups. One might say they represent the interests of their constituency in a twisted self-destructive way.

Hamas was elected to power by Palestinians in Gaza last time they had an election

When was the last time they had an election anyway? While where at it who was it who funded them again?

      Hamas is comprised of Palestinians

The Manson Family was comprised of Californians.

      These are not unrelated groups.

      They are not equivalent groups

72% of Palestinians still approve of Hamas and October 7th

While I wonder where you got that stat (who is running around with surveys while hospitals are bombed and people are displaced?) what do you suppose you might approve of if you were experiencing apartheid and genocide?

One might say they represent the interests of their constituency in a twisted self-destructive way.

Do those interests (not being Nakba’d) have any legitimacy would you say?

As I stated above, hamas still has popular support and would win another election if they held one today. Here’s my source for that figure.

what do you suppose you might approve of if you were experiencing apartheid and genocide?

Neither of these terms are accurate, Palestinians are in their current situation not because of genetics, but because their nation keeps murdering Jews unprovoked. Unlike Hamas who explicitly wants to destroy Israel and murder Jews, Israel has always claimed they do not intend to destroy Palestineans in whole or in part. I oppose genocide and the genocidal, which is why I support Israel. Meanwhile, genocide of Jews is incredibly popular in Palestine and is their government’s stated goal.

Do those interests (not being Nakba’d) have any legitimacy would you say?

Those who remained peaceful and stayed in Israel through the nakaba seem to be doing quite well, comparatively. Said annexations were yet another consequence of choosing violence. Frankly, it doesn’t matter how legitimate they believe their claims are, they don’t have the means to annex said lands. One cannot win a conflict with righteous outrage alone, at some point they have to acknowledge the realities of their situation and choose to compromise, or they will lose everything one settlement at a time.

Damn right I upvote my own posts, most social media platforms do this by default, and I find it very amusing that others care.

          unprovoked

          The Nakba never happened? Wow.

Those who remained peaceful and stayed in Israel through the nakaba seem to be doing quite well, comparatively.

Why should anyone havebeen expected to put up with the Nakbah though? These people still have keys to stolen houses they were kicked out of.

Israel has always claimed they do not intend to destroy Palestineans in whole or in part.

          Oh word?

It’s like clapping for your own poem.

I never said it didn’t happen, I’m saying that the annexations were arguably justified. Once again, those who remained and stayed peaceful are doing quite well. It was those who left to join the belligerents or who fled that were not allowed to return. Given that Israel has been under attack since day one, I can understand why they want defensible borders and territories.

Your link is about a gathering of settlers, I’m at a loss why you included it, do you think they represent Israel as a whole?

Well then most social media sites have users, “applaud their own poems,” by default. Never seen anyone complain about this on other platforms.

Yeah, funny thing when you try to murder your neighbors they might not want you as neighbors anymore. Had Arab nationalists not started the cycle of violence against their peaceful neighbors, then doubled down on violence every chance they got, none of this would have happened. An equitable one state solution we’re both Arabs and Jews could live in peace with each other could have been possible.

When they chose violence and lost time and time again, only to choose violence once more, the terrible consequences should have become obvious, certainly by now Israel’s retaliation should be unsurprising. Did they think they could genocide and ethnically cleanse Jews without consequence? Did they think they could keep trying without retaliation?

Kicking someone out of their house in 1948 doesn’t make the people you haven’t gotten around to kicking out yet (but are working on it) your neighbors.
