“A Republican candidate running for a seat in Oklahoma’s state House once said it is ‘totally just’ to kill gay people in comments that have resurfaced amid his campaign.”

    I didn’t vote for him/her

“The Trump-endorsed Republican candidate in South Carolina’s4th Congressional District called for the arrest and execution of those who advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and the protection of trans children.”

    Nor him/her

former Republican state representative Robert Foster: “I think they need to be lined up against [a] wall before a firing squad to be sent to an early judgment.”

    I didn’t vote for him.

but these are the representatives of the GOP,

These are the representatives some people in a different state than mine voted for. I am not responsible for their votes, just as you aren’t responsible for my city council voting in a self proclaimed communist.

I didn’t vote for one of these individuals you are picking out, I don’t know any of the individuals, haven’t donated to any of the individuals campaigns or spread good words about them.

How am I responsible for who Oklahoma folks vote?

    Get off the ship.

Your thinking is the big problem with the US. You think there are two ships that everyone has to choose between them. There aren’t. I’m not on a ship, I vote for candidates that I think reflect my opinions more than the other side. I wish I had more options, better options, but I don’t. I just vote for who I think is best for my city/county/state/country given the options I have.

Stop thinking everyone needs to fully belong to one ‘ship.’

So you literally ignored what I had to say entirely.

You are voting for that party, you are voting to support these people, you are voting to support these agendas, agendas that are meant to take away rights and hurt or criminalize or murder people. You might as well say “Well I don’t agree with Hitler at all, I vote Nazi because of their economic policies”

So I guess the real question is, do you agree with these positions? Do you want gay and trans people to be eliminated from society? Do you want women to be forced to give birth to headless fetuses even if it kills them? Cause if the answer is yes, then you are voting the right party! And they are fucking monsters!

Otherwise I’m starting to think you are just trolling and don’t actually have an interest in considering why people keep “lumping you in” with Nazis (I guess voting for them isn’t enough).

I read it and showed where you were wrong. You haven’t responded to my questions.

You are voting for that party,

        I don’t vote for parties.

So I guess the real question is, do you agree with these positions?

If you’d like me to answer your questions, please answer mine.

Troll. Mah man just wants to pontificate and thinks it’s up to you/all of us to convince him that supporting the Nazi party is bad. This idiot is laughable.

100%. I’ve seen it a million times with this lot. Patronizing and bad faith arguments designed to appear as though they are genuinely curious and open to opposing viewpoints. It’s all complete bullshit. Conservatives need to take a real hard look at what they’ve become and it’s not up to anyone else to convince them. Don’t waste your time or energy. And yes, I’m talking to you.

You must be using Republicans and conservatives interchangeably, which is objectively wrong. We’re against the far right and huge trumpers. That doesn’t mean I’m gonna suddenly change my whole world view to become left wing.

Yeah, I frankly don’t care how you want to confound the issue. This discussion began with an article about the religious right and anti-LGBTQ messaging. I don’t see liberals or Democrats claiming to be the “religious right.” Again, let me reiterate my point that you are acting in bad faith. When you are finally mature enough to open up your mind and your heart and possibly, just possibly adjust your sacred “whole world view” – only then would I attempt to engage in conversation with you. Until then, I bid you adieu.

By claiming, correctly, that the vast majority of religious conservatives aren’t Nazis?

By saying that the majority of us have no power over the far right or extremists in rural counties?

By saying that conflating 100% of us are just as bad as the furthest 20% of us, simply because I voted for a reasonable republican candidate and someone in oklahoma voting for an idiot candidate that happened to have the same letter by his name?

If you want to keep playing this ‘us vs them’ game that’s popular in politics right now, go for it. I vote for the candidate, not by the letter next to their name.

So who’s arguing in bad faith? The one saying I can’t control voters 2,000 miles away, or you saying that if I don’t, I’m a nazi?
