      There is a point because its much easier to get people to start using an app they can get from app stores. Also lots of apps are built as web apps regardless

        I meant it’s a pwa so you can add it to your Home Screen and it will act like a native app

          Again, most people browse through apps and find apps on the App Store.

            It’s pointless to pay to get on the app stores when the apps work perfectly fine as a web app. Also most people will eventually find out about wefwef/voyage since it’s getting recommended everywhere.

              It really doesnt matter if its pointless or not. There is a familiarity with App-Store Apps, PWAs are a “new” concept for the vast majority of people. While they exist for a really long time now, almost nobody uses them.

                It’s mainly the fees that both the google play store and Apple App Store charge, I’m not sure if the developer is willing to pay the fees. Also the dev would have to put the app in a wrapper which isn’t worth the effort and Lemmy isn’t mainstream so they wouldn’t be loosing any traffic or money
