I do not know about US numbers, but in NL - one of the most “productive” countries when it comes to agriculture - about half the population number is killed weekly 8.5m), which is about 843 animals per minute. Not counting fish, insects, game, etc.
So you are technically incorrect, but those are not exactly rookie numbers.
I did just say animal ag as a whole, which definitely kills more per minute. But I suppose it’s an unfair comparison since we should also be looking at medical science as a whole. I mean it’s all moot anyway, I just think it’s silly to worry about 1500 monkeys when animal ag is responsible for far worse atrocities every day and most people don’t blink an eye because hamburder.
