They keep raising prices, stating that it’s due to inflation, but then they keep having record profits.

Meanwhile, the average American can barely afford rent or food nowadays.

What are we to do? Vote? I have been but that doesn’t seem to do much since I’m just voting for a representative that makes the actual decisions.

    Regarding rent, depending on you situation, you can just ask to have it lowered.

    We previously lived in a duplex. When the other tenant moved out, we chatted and they said that they were offered $XYZ rent reduction to stay (they moved out anyway — price wasn’t really a factor). So we just asked the property manager for a reduction (“given the current real estate climate blah blah blah…”) and got a rent reduction. No guarantees but usually doesn’t hurt to ask (unless you have a vindictive landlord…).
