Fine, I’ll say it: Washington has always been more leftist than CA, and it’s not just Seattle. It’s pretty much anywhere that has actual population. Tacoma, Everett, Bremerton, Spokane, Bellevue, Bellingham. Even the more rural counties are more left than many of the “left” places in CA.

I grew up in WA and am now in CA. Not sure that I can fully agree. With the first and last bits (definitely correct about the population centers but missed Oly). I’ve found there to be a lot of performative action (as opposed to substantive action) in WA and there are still significant workplace hostility towards LGBTQ+ people in some places.
