Yume Nikki has a Platinum rating on ProtonDB but I’m having some trouble trying to get it to work.

It’s starts just fine and seems to run, but a window flashes for a second and then nothing happens. The only reason I know it’s running is because Steam says so.

I tried changing the launch options to use gamescope and it seemed to work, but there was noticable lag and it seemed to show the previous frame, like a ghost image or something. It made the text almost impossible to read.

I’m running the Steam Flatpak on Arch Linux with Gnome 44. Any help is appreciated. TIA.

Have you tried multiple versions of Proton? Try an older version that matches one of the reviews on ProtonDB

Have you tried running it under X11 instead of Wayland? Some games get messed up by Wayland

I tried it a few hours after I made this post but for some reason, Gnome on Xorg kept crashing and going back to GDM as soon as I moved the cursor. By that point it was getting late and I stopped debugging. I have no idea how to debug that anyway.

Damn, I am stumped then, it works fine for me on steam.

You could try installing it in lutris perhaps? The game doesn’t have any achievements or enhancements on steam so you wouldn’t be missing out on any extra features besides possibly cloud save (though backing up wine prefixes is amazing, I copy fl studio to a flash drive to sync with my various computers).
