If anyone in your group chat isn’t using an iPhone, Apple shuts off several features for the entire chat, because they refuse to participate in the texting standard and insists on their own proprietary one instead, and the green bubble is just a flag for who’s “causing” it.

Imagine if your Honda car suddenly stopped supporting air conditioning, a radio, power windows, etc, whenever you had a Ford fan as a passenger. It’s a clearly intentional tactic to make you not want to let them in until they swap allegience. Some people will fall for it, and blame the person rather than the company.
