T-Mobile sued after employee stole nude images from customer phone during trade-in::T-Mobile has been sued again for failing to protect consumer data after an employee at one of its Washington stores stole nude images off of a customer’s phone.
I’ve worked in customer based IT solutions on and off most of my life.
The number of times that I’ve personally encountered self-made nudes on a customer’s computer is nearly innumerable. There’s even a significant percentage of customers who had me specifically find self-made nudes for backup or recovery.
Generally speaking, it’s no big deal as it’s incredibly common, and it’s usually only adults involved (though I’ve had to get cops involved several times).
That said, I know of people who buy old computers and phones so they can recover nudes and other personally identifying information for identity theft.
The best way to protect yourself is to run a superb cleaner over your computer or phone hard drive before trading things in.
