In the statement, Kelly is confirming, on the record, a number of details in a 2020 story in The Atlantic by editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, including Trump turning to Kelly on Memorial Day 2017, as they stood among those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery, and saying, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?”

Trump said he did not want to visit the graves of American soldiers buried in the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris because, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” During that same trip to France, the article reported, Trump said the 1,800 US Marines killed in the Belleau Wood were “suckers” for getting killed.

Kelly concluded, “God help us.”

People that went there were just lied to.

Only morons actually sign up for the army

Pick one. Many who sign up for America’s military are recent highschool grads. Literally, or very nearly children who, as you said, were lied to. For many their only opportunity for higher education was from the GI bill. The system is coercive.

I am a veteran. I had nothing good going for me in my teens. Homeless half of my highschool years because my father is a POS and my mother is a mental case. I couldn’t live with my sister anymore and the military would give me a job, housing, food, education, and a foundation to work with.

I’m very lucky that my time in the Navy was peaceful. The people I served with were pretty similar to me. We were children.

Only morons would call someone a moron for joining the Army. I’m not responding to that other person because I’m just going to set them on ignore. Their thoughts are clearly not worth even entertaining anymore. Hell his comment history on Ukraine makes it clear, that person is trash.
