Sorry if this is disappointing to any of you, but we have so few members here now, and so much stuff is still broken, that we don’t feel as though continuing is worth it.

However, /r/Piracy has their own Lemmy, and everything is working well on it, so we’re going to start directing people there instead, as they share our same values and goals. Thanks for the support guys and again I am sorry this didn’t work out. We wanted it to, but it just didn’t.

I’d like to apologize to everyone for doing this on such short notice and not being able to get it stable. It’s been a fun ride but it’s clear that it ended a long time ago. I’ll see you all on db0.

    Some more specifics:

    • The instance will lock registration and community creation on October 1st. There doesn’t seem to be a way to disable posts and comments rn so ig it’ll be left on. I’ll be keeping the instance up for the foreseeable future for archival reasons.
    • Frontends will be kept up.

No need to apologize, you’ve done so much good for the community! Who would have guessed a major VPS would just go down “forever”.

      Thanks for all you’ve done.

Would you mind helping db0 folks by telling them what you did to fix the missing thumbnails issue? They are struggling with that.

A couple examples of new posts with thumbnail in FMHY but missing them in db0:

It was just a file permissions issue on my end after switching to Ansible, ran chmod -R a=rwx where pictrs was located. (This probably won’t help with db0.)
