Session #18, Speak like a Child

I think about this episode more often than probably makes sense. As a collector of old analog media, it feels more and more relatable every year.

There’s something about the episode that gives me a really warm feeling, though. You’d kind-of expect the opposite reaction, thinking about the things you love eventually becoming something only historians, archaeologists, and trackers remember.

I guess what makes me feel warm when I watch that episode and think about such a future, is probably the same thing that gets my dopamine surging when I find a flea market vendor that still has Laserdiscs in their inventory. It’s the thrill of the hunt, and the “discovery.”

In the future however, it’s probably going to be combined with the same thrill I imagine people get in the modern day when they explore abandoned and off-limit buildings and zones. Trying to piece together what daily life was like there, before it suddenly wasn’t.

Anyway, you should go watch that episode. Hell, watch the whole series. It’s a really interesting experience in nostalgia.
