Returning readers of this site may have noticed that the pace of development in relayd(8) and httpd(8) has been picking up recently. Now Rafael Sadowski (rsadowski@) has a new blog post out titled Dead Software Walking: The ongoing evolution of relayd(8) and httpd(8) where he tells the story.

    This is very good news as I love and use both software a lot.

    Reading the original post from rsadowski@, it turns out the motivation behind it all is a pretext to use LLMs. Given the amount of patches submitted, I truly hope this code was thoroughly reviewed and remains (even if machine-generated) secure and at the same quality level as what we’re used to with OpenBSD software.

      I may be misreading it, but it sounds like he wanted to start coding (for real) again after, presumably, being convinced or coerced to use LLMs at work for a while?

        Now that you say it, I may have misinterpreted that :

        the biggest motivation is and was LLMs.
