I just want to make a few points: as GalaxyBrain said, Miles dyson is an employee of Cyberdyne, not the founder or CEO ( until genisys), and there was a direct sequel to T2 in the form of a TV show called the Sarah Conner Chronicles. I don’t really remember anything about it, but it might be more what your looking for. And finally, T2 is, at it’s heart, a story about growing up without a father. That’s the story Cameron wanted to tell in it’s 2 hour runtime. There is critique to be made about the things that were ignored, certainly, but I think it did a very good job of telling the story it did.

I mean the dude’s not literally the CEO, but per the dumbass Terminator Fandom wiki:

In 1995, Dr. Dyson had been a cybernetics scientist and a high-ranking employee of Cyberdyne Systems Corporation as Director of Special Projects.

however the fact that they DO make him into the CEO in one of the endless tortured sequels is pretty funny. The amount of times people have tried to defend T2 by citing the endless tortured sequels surprised me a lot.

Anyone is free to think Cameron did a good job, it’s not like I have the ability to single-handedly turn the tide on ~35 years of rave reviews, DVD sales, academy awards and Universal Studios park rides. Dunno if I’d even want to, honestly. Also for what it’s worth the Special Edition has basically become canon, (default on the bluray, etc) and so it ends up being like two and a half hours, which to me is wild.

Technically genisys isn’t a sequel, it’s an alternate timeline blahblahblah that movie sucks. I’m just saying he’s not elon musk or even Steve Wozniak. My other point was that I felt you did not engage with the main thesis of the film (outside of the anti-war sentiment) and that may be shading your opinion of it.

I made a real big mistake assuming that Sarah Connor was the protagonist, didn’t I? Like Alien, the Terminator films are like favoured pets that film discussion people sometimes posit as ‘le epic feminism win’ which seems like a startlingly poor assertion to me. John Connor is fine, I guess, but you do also have to bristle imo at the fact that this woman’s entire role in this story is child rearing. Feels oddly fitting for Cameron.

Dyson’s a high-ranking employee of Cyberdyne Systems Corporation as Director of Special Projects and inventor of the microprocessor that leads to the creation of Skynet.

I don’t like this movie either but I watched these back to back the other day.

Sure, we can assume he’s fairly high ranking, but he is still an employee. It’s worth trying to convince him. Maybe the movie could have made a bigger deal about him struggling with losing his socioeconomic position, but he probably didn’t need a ton of convincing considering he had just been shot by the SWAT team.

He is a Director, its stated… I watch films with the subtitles so I take in everything said.

Hes already convinced by the time Swat turns up, he just had to see arnold deglove his arm to decide…

(In regards to you saying about the Sarah Connor chronicles)

I don’t subscribe to needing info outside of said work to substantiate info or whatever and I also wouldn’t expect anyone to do that either as I have a personal pet peeve with the concept.

Fair enough, I haven’t seen it in a minute. Still, worth a try.

Glad you got that off your chest, but that’s not what I said. I said ashinadash may find it more her speed. As in enjoyable as it’s own media.
