    Not sure what the over-reliance on microsoft is for these days.

    There are so many free alternatives, it just makes sense to use them rather than pay the windows tax.

      The same it has been for decades inertia and the cost of retraining/switiching over.

      Outlook and excel basically run most businesses.

      It’s for Microsoft to make more money. They lobby for it and ensure that decision makers decide to use Microsoft. They aren’t alone in this, of course, but they are very good at doing it.

      Change is difficult, but we will be better off if we can go to the trouble to leave Windows behind.
