In my experience, 100% of the time the app works perfectly fine anyway. Google is just lying.You can install them using the alternative Play Store frontend called Aurora Store. Aurora is available in the F-droid repository.
On LineageOS I think F-droid is not installed by default but you can get it from https://f-droid.org/
