The Seattle City Council voted 7-2 Tuesday to expand its use of video cameras by police, despite concerns that the footage could be used by the Trump administration against immigrants, protesters, and vulnerable communities.
“This is not the end-all, be-all. It’s not going to solve all our problems,” Saka said. “But it will help us investigate some crimes.”
correct- putting cameras everywhere wont address any of the root causes for any of the crimes youll end up investigating with them!
the question for the city council is why don’t you spend the city’s resources on addressing those issues, instead? I dont want to see more prosecutions! I want to see less crime because the underlying issues have been worked through, not because government enacted more privacy invading stop gaps
