People want to own all sorts of dangerous animals. Imagine my neighbor having a pet leopard and the cat being the cuddlyist thing ever and so cute. And even cuter for having someone dress her up in cute cat outfits. Sure, whatever, it is still something that could eat one of my kids and has the innate instinct to do exactly that, even if that instinct is currently dormant.

Pit bulls were designed to attack without regard to anything else. Once that instinct is triggered, their physical design turn them into killing machines. Pit bulls do not belong in homes. They belong in zoos.

People have been breeding them as companions and farm/hunting dogs for over a century. It’s not the dogs’ fault humans are bloodthirsty, and zoos aren’t the place for any animal. Nor are the dogs big cats, but guess what? Domesticated cats evolved from people who had relationships with big cats.

Maybe we should stop breeding them. Maybe we should find humane ways to end the species.

Farmers rely on these dogs. I’m not adverse to the idea but that’s a lot more work and requires a lot more involvement from society. We can’t even keep people from owning alligators, venomous reptiles, spiders etc. writing letters and attending city council is something most people aren’t willing to do once, let alone consistently, but feel free to do your part.

This breed has no special use for farmers. None. They don’t run cattle, they attack cattle (stupidly). They are a pest.

We can’t even keep people from owning alligators

Actually, we do. There’s a lengthy permit process in most states that makes it very difficult, very expensive, and requires a high degree of safegards. That’s one reason why so few people own alligators.

Sir, xer, madam, I grew up in and in farm country. You know not of which you speak. Permitting only works for the honest. You can continue, I’m done. You’ve been offered a valid perspective and refuse further consideration. Good luck in your endeavors.

My work explicitly is with farmers, their land, and their equipment. There is zero use for pit bulls on farms. The only people around here who have them are drug abusing trash that move out to the country and let their dogs stir-up problems with their neighbors’ cattle. No respectable person around here owns a pit bull. More than one has been shot by a rancher protecting his land.

Used for what? What exactly do they do? And what region is this?
