No. He doesn’t need people to keep the platform running. He doesn’t need advertisers. He needs his Russian bots. He needs news organizations to pay attention to the crap going on there. That’s it.

He’s richer than god and owning the platform is paying dividends.

He doesn’t need people to keep it running, but the platform is useless without audience to influence.

All the people who think that celebrities should move out and that they themselves don’t matter if they are on Twitter or not. Musk does not use Twitter to influence celebrities he uses Twitter to influence YOU and people like you.

Myspace still exists right now, but it is now irrelevant, we should make sure the same is true for Twitter.

While you’re correct, you’re missing an angle. No news companies report on everything on Myspace. Fox News has the highest viewership. If they report on both everything that happens to Twitter and everything that’s happening on the platform then shitloads of folks are going to hear about it even when we don’t have accounts.

I know about all kinds of shit on that platform and I no longer have an account.

The news similarly report from Twitter (frankly this is lousy journalism and I would stay away from any news that uses social media as their source, but that’s another topic) because Twitter has audience. If no real person uses it, it becomes irrelevant.

Look at truth social, not one cares about it, with one exception - trump, but that’s because they look for his opinions and that’s where he posts them.

Though to reiterate what I wrote above, we should stay away from any news site that calls themselves serious and do reporting what people write on social media. They aren’t bringing any value and infact they are taking the quality of journalism.

My only argument here is that I really think coordination between certain news organizations, even if you and I aren’t watching them (and I’m pretty sure neither of us are) and a big enough fake audience will keep it going for years to steer opinion with minimal human input.

I could be wrong. I just have very little faith in folks right now and really believe that they’re both evil enough to do that and stupid enough to fall for it.
