Disappointing, but not surprising. If you want to know why I quit the federation, this is why. The complete lack of accountability combined with abusive moderation is beyond toxic. No normal person is going to join a system like that.

I have downloaded my archive but have zero desire to ever return to mastodon.

I chose it because it’s the biggest one. It wasn’t my first choice; the other instance I started on was too small to serve much purpose.

I don’t feel comfortable flooding a small server about a niche subject with generalist content. Kind of goes against the spirit of the server.

There are general servers that aren’t the main three big ones. But that’s beside the point, looking at what you linked above, you’re clearly on a crusade to make everything see things from your point of view, no matter how patchy the logic is. The people of Palestine are fighting for their lives and you want to use them for Internet point scoring, even going as far to bring the Russia-Ukraine war into it. Don’t you think that’s a little twisted?

Just for record, people don’t want to bring down Jews, Russians, Ukrainians or even Americans. They want to bring down the systems that empower them to do fuckeries to normal people who deserve better.

Sheesh yeah i’m out. If this is what the federation has become then I want no part in it. It’s not about me, it’s about fascism.

The only reason I speak out is because if they’re doing this to me they’re no doubt doing this to a lot more people. I’d rather allow some record of it happening instead of just allowing bad actors a monopoly over the narrative. Journalists much prefer it when people speak out instead of just going silent in the face of oppression.
