Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Galinda and elphaba's names both start with the same letter as gratitude and envy. The opposing virtue and sin. And Elphie is "green with envy".
1·17 days agoYou seem to be implying that Elphaba’s opposition to wizard’s status quo is a bad thing, while Glinda’s support is a good thing. Glinda/Galinda’s relationship with Elphaba is what caused her to start thinking beyond herself.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think humans can be cloned as of currently? (I mean, not just a specific part of the body but a whole human)
6·19 days agoI mean, I don’t see why not, but having a clone isn’t as big a deal as people think. Identical twins are already natural clones

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If someone tells you that communism has led to famines in the USSR and China, that it doesn't have any incentives and that anyone who supports it use products of capitalism, how do you counter this?
1·20 days agoDo you think people aren’t intrinsically motivated to feed themselves? Also, those famines happened because of a guy named Trofim Lysenko got into Stalin’s good graces while having some batshit unscientific ideas about botany. You don’t need communism for that, see RFK Jr, or the cigarette industry, or everyone who denies or downplays climate change because they don’t want to have the deal with it.
Because the more seriously you take gender roles the more you turn into a pod person
