Regulations were put in place to prevent manufacturers from opening their own stores right next to the dealers they worked with. Dealers assume some risk when they take on inventory. Apparently it’s not like a bookstore where any unsold copies just go back to the publisher. It’s still a flimsy justification though and enshrined these middlemen who then enshittified everything. Worse, in some cases manufacturers are entirely prevented from selling direct, even if they don’t work with dealerships. It’s too much.

You’re right that the economic utilitarian argument for immigration is not the only one. It’s just one that I would expect any rational conservative to actually care about if they understood it. Other arguments, like our moral obligation to provide asylum to folks fleeing terrible circumstances… I don’t expect them to care about that one.

If you can argue that the action was baseless harassment, then do so. Frivolous lawsuits have their own penalties. But you can’t argue with the subpoena process on its face.

Do you understand what it means to be subpoenaed? Under the authority of a court, you can be ordered to produce documents or appear yourself, and this order must be delivered in person to be considered complete. There are penalties for not complying so they have to make absolutely sure you received the order.

Being in the AppStore gives you access to a lot of people. I don’t feel it’s at all relevant whether you happen to also have other exposure elsewhere. Apple charges you for the exposure you get from them, period. If you don’t want to pay for it, because you’re so successful on other channels, just don’t. Don’t have an iOS app. But for years we’ve had people who want an iOS app but also want to complain about sharing what they make from it.
