Here’s a source for anyone interested. I just tested my well water where I’m at and it’s 10x over the legal EPA limit :( . Might be testing my blood next and heading to the plasma donation center!

Be the change you want to see in the world! Even if it’s something small you could help things be better.
Another good piece of evidence I just thought of is the oldest known depiction of Jesus: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexamenos_graffito
It seems the claim might originate with Jehovah’s Witnesses in modern times.
Do you have any sources on the claim that it wasn’t a cross and was changed later for pagans? The scripture references “coming down” from the cross which to me would imply the one we typically think of.
Also from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impalement,
"I see crosses there, not just of one kind but made differently by different [fabricators]; some individuals suspended their victims with heads inverted toward the ground; some drove a stake (stipes) through their excretory organs/genitals; others stretched out their [victims’] arms on a patibulum [cross bar]; I see racks, I see lashes … "
Sounds like Seneca, a figure from exactly this time period confirms the type of cross we think of.
Yeah, that’s true and it’s very upsetting that so many hypocrites would exist within the wider church. I’d argue that someone that doesn’t follow the teachings of Christ isn’t a Christian at all since that’s literally what the word means.
Every movement in history has hypocrites that follow it, and give the movement a bad name. Lumping “American Christians” together and then judging them based on the worst people who adopt that title is creating a straw man.
All American Christians that I know try and follow what you pointed out in your first sentence.
The statement on judging however is a bit misguided, Jesus didn’t say to never judge, but to be careful to avoid hypocrisy and to judge with love.
This is in my top ten list for certain, I’m glad they’re remastering it so a new generation can enjoy it! I would like to see more new content with this same style though.
When asking for the reforms you’re talking about results in things like getting disappeared of course people are going to be underground about it. The human spirit isn’t meant to be caged in the way that the CCP does (Or Western capitalism does for that matter), eventually resistance will build up to a breaking point I hope.
Yeah, that’s for sure. I’m a FIRE adherent so hopefully I am going to be able to choose where I spend my time soon and escape the broken system
You don’t necessarily need it, but if you have a full time job that’s roughly a third of your time. Having a third of your time without social interaction causes you to need an extremely robust social life outside of work to make up for it, throwing things off balance.
I don’t think it has much to do with skill, I just wanted more balance in my life
I thought the same but over the years my perspective has changed. It’s not actually healthy to think like that about people you spend a third of your time with
For me, over the years having no connection with anyone at work has actually been detrimental and led me to seek an in office job.
It wasn’t the only factor but it was definitely one of them. Humans are social creatures at the end of the day.
Something like this might be a solution for home use: https://cyclopure.com/dexsorb/
That or reverse osmosis
So what’s the play here, avoid things with cinnamon flavoring? Iirc that’s how the lead was coming in the applesauce.
Everyone celebrating someone dying from Alzheimer’s probably has never experienced it first hand. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.
The world could use a bit more kindness sometimes :(
This is an excellent list, Planetes is one I keep coming back to, I always have about it too anyone who will listen!
I’ll have to check out some of these others I haven’t seen.
Another good one is Monster, but it does have problematic relationships
This one in Matthew feels relevant here too:
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[a] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Once it has been validated, what would you then say the source of the knowledge gained was?
For me, this was the Total War series, particularly the first Rome Total War. I remember my history teacher asking if anyone could point to Carthage on a map and I was the only one in the class who had any idea.
Lots to be learned out there from non-traditional sources if you pay attention!
Because we’ve tied all value to capital and the only capital most people start with is their time. Aside from changing the system which I do support, the only thing you can do is play the game the best you can while minimizing the abuse of others.
