I always hated the site but that’s crossed the line for me.
no, I hadn’t noticed because I don’t use sites that I hate

handful of dudes in a mansion
how dare you. that is the People’s mansion.

oh here we go, the Read More Theory Club once again blaming everyone but themselves for their shitty political theory never getting off the ground.

what a shitstain lol

one of the biggest for me is the ability to disable downvotes for people who aren’t from trusted servers. we have a lot of :slopper: downvoting anything genAI they see. restricting downvotes to exclusively FAF instances wiped out the problem.

a BPR on a post Rimu lied in to gether sympathy from idiots. we don’t need to be level-headed, we didn’t start this fight and we aren’t the ones who keep dragging the drama back up. we’re not the narcissistic loser who can’t stand that he isn’t in control of his little fiefdom anymore or that people aren’t fawning over him like he demands. we also aren’t the ones who purged our communities of everyone who didn’t pass a Trump-style loyalty test.
Rimu can get fucked. PyLova is now beyond his control, headed for a hard fork, and has more features and better security than Piefed ever did or ever will. and since he’s pulling this shit, I’m considering rewriting the entire thing from scratch so we can use a license that requires attribution. so that the next time he uses patches we wrote to fix his shoddy code, he has to prominently display attribution to us since I know that will piss him off to no end.

why don’t they act like adults and reach out?
because Rimu blocked us for making the fork in the first place. we tried to reach out when we offered him patches for the zero-days that .ML user dropped, and he refused them before copy/pasting them to Piefed and purging the Piefed Matrix channel of anyone who called him out for being a manbaby. even MrKaplan said he was out of line when he admitted that he did it that way specifically so that Mia did not get credit for the code SHE wrote. these were bugs that had existed in Piefed, PyLova devs fixed them, and we offered them as a peace offering to Rimu since he was mad we forked his software.
well, he burnt that bridge. now, if anyone wants to see further Piefed security vulnerabilities, they can just watch the PyLova changelog. we’re not going to go out of our way to help him fix his shit anymore, and we’re not going to keep security patches on the down low just to protect him and his shoddy fucking code.

PyLova has a lot more features than Lemmy does.

there’s a lot of features that PyLova has that Lemmy does not.

well for one, you don’t even need play services for all apps downloaded from the play store. and for another, even for the ones that do need it, play services run as an unprivileged sandboxed app, the same as any. so it can’t enforce anything google wants because it has zero control over anything.

good news, nobody who like Piefed has to use it. we’ve gotten PyLova to the point it’s running Quokk.au and Anarchist.Nexus, and we’ve not only removed the censorship and the bias, but we’ve also improved the UI, made some new themes, and most important of all patched some security vulnerabilities.
at this point it’s better than Piefed in every way.

someone forked piefed, and Rimu uploaded their code without attribution AFTER patches were OFFERED to him and he blocked those patches and banned the PyLova devs.
but keep on being a parasocial asshat, cause anybody looking closely at the PyLova commit history is gonna see all the security vulnerabilities in Piefed we patched, and Rimu ignored.

pretty balsy move on his part, considering he has unpatched security vulns that we tried to upstream and he rejected. we’ve since stopped trying. someone closely watching our commits would probably see some shit that Piefed was still vulnerable to.
anyway, him stealing themes won’t work for much longer, because we’ve been making enough changes that we’ve broken compatibility for them. and further changes are coming. many, many changes are coming, and will keep coming, so check out PyLova because at this point it’s better and more secure than Piefed.

Javascript is a human rights violation

I use nano just because it’s the one that’s usually installed. if it was usually Vim, I would use that instead.

why did NATO force them to do this?! 😢

you need to read the actual text of the bill, not the sanitized PR blog post put out by the people pushing it who want to make it seem like it’s a better idea than it actually is. don’t ever take the word of a corporation or politician at face value.
“Covered manufacturer” means a manufacturer of an Internet-enabled device, an operating system provider, or an application store.

oh no haha those poor rich people what will they do lmao
Also, if you don’t want to see any Twitter, Reddit, Github, YouTube, or other major social media site goig forward without a digital condom, check out LibRedirect. The only thing it doesn’t have a frontend for is Facebook.
