This website is causing me trouble with its turquoise. Turquoise (the stone) comes in a broad range of colors from clearly green to clearly blue.

the formatting and repetition suck …

Not only repetition but the paragraphs are pasted out of order. This article is incoherent.

It’s a made-up word from a Brandon Sanderson young adult novel that includes magic-enabling slug familiars.

Do they really have martyrs, even? It seems like the far right are mostly chasing whatever grifter is currently pushing something for themselves. Dead people don’t push the grift anymore.

Charlie Kirk seemed like a good candidate for martyr if anybody was but I’m not seeing much rallying around his name. Just a little bit of grift that his wife can keep active, not any big rallying flag.

I say let the people pushing hate and death go ahead and die. Any old way of getting them off their podiums is fine with me; I’m not picky.

I read this question as, “What is your favorite dead name?” and I was very confused.

Yeah this was hard news for me to hear. Neighboring Alberta are supposed to be the fuck-ups with the oil obsession, and BC are supposed to be the nature-loving progressives.

But the BC premier Eby called an election early to cynically capitalize on Conservative Party disorganization and that apparently pissed everybody off on both sides to swing the election to the nutjobs.

I just got back to the US from two weeks in Rome and Milan.

Buses are fucking great! Run everywhere, take you anywhere you want to go, skip traffic jams with the bus-only lanes and especially much faster than finding a parking spot.

It’s my first time having a completely car-free vacation and I loved it. Too bad I had to come home to bad civic planning and drive everywhere again

Byd has production cars in China that jump over potholes.

Wut?

It wouldn’t need to be that way — if everyone puts in their max bid at time of bidding, the seller’s instance keeps that secret until the auction clears, and then waits for all bids to clear at the end and picks the highest, you would get the correct outcome.

Meanwhile in the middle the current bid price might be out-of-date by some minutes.

Auction sniping would not work but idgaf about that for sure.

Trust in the seller’s instance seems like it would be the hard part.

Of course it is dramatic! We should not expect people to brush off and ignore assault like it’s a stubbed toe.

Both.

What’s with the super-tall cowboy hats? Is that just fashion choices or is there a reason for the height?

I’m using hover.com because I’ve been too lazy to change since my old provider got folded into them years ago.

They’re expensive and lately it seems bank-security emails are silently not coming in (Docusign signature requests and Huntington Bank password reset emails… )

I don’t know if the silent failures are because of my private domain or because of the backend provider. I wish I knew how to figure that out.

Yeah it’s a divided highway. I got directions once that included what I heard as a “jewel carriageway” and had just a very confusing time getting that clarified.

Is there meant to be a link to a source, here? I’d really like to read about this. Wikipedia article linked by another comment does not mention any more towers besides the two that continue to exist today.

Why not? I want to have more white space between my sentences than I do between words in the same sentence. I’m writing emails, business crap, and Lemmy posts; nothing that’s going to see any love from a typesetter. Is there some more appropriate way to get what I want than hitting the spacebar twice between sentences?

Y’all still got dual carriageways over there?

What is the link between Portugal and Switzerland?
