Anthropology@mander.xyz•Neanderthal men chose Homo sapiens women: Genetics reveals the sex life of our ancestorsEnglish
2·12 days agoIsn’t there an inherent bias in that if the children stayed with the mothers, and since modern humans ended up surviving, while Neanderthals ultimately died out, that the surviving progeny that became our ancestors would have been the mix of modern human women with Neanderthal men. But, I guess this makes the assumption that women stayed with their group and didn’t leave, or get captured by other groups.

The long line would be the spinal cord, but I believe the round blob at the bottom of the spinal cord is its brain.
I think Scarecrow was stood up as a straw man!
I think they meant that it’s the storyline of Homer’s The Odyssey, but it takes place in space. I just looked into it, and I saw on Wikipedia that the characters and plot have been compared to Shakespeare’s The Tempest, “leading many to consider it a loose adaptation.”
In any case, thanks for posting this! I’ll have to add it to my watch list!
Yeah, those both look like kittens and the tabby looks a bit dirty on their white sections. I think these were just two stray kittens and/or outdoor kittens, and not the original OP’s cat sneaking out to see a neighbor’s cat.

Health - Resources and discussion for everything health-related@lemmy.world•Pink noise may be bad for sleep quality, new research findsEnglish
6·1 month agoI live in a city and have been using a noise machine for years because it helps drown out traffic noise (especially for things like garbage trucks that might bang in the alley in the early morning), and drowns out the neighbors in the apartments above and below me. I found over the years that incidental noises would ruin my sleep otherwise.
Wow. That was… really good. I’m glad you shared it!

Detroit style is a square pan pizza, pan being a very thick bready bottom. Chicago or tavern style is a thin crust round pizza that is cut into squares. I personally love Detroit style!
