One of the lines in the sand for me is when people are unironically pro North Korea. I don’t want that on my feed.
One of your lines in the sand is when people are against colonialism and in favour of anti-colonial liberation, then. No doubt because you uncritically believe the same people who said ‘but Iraq has WMDs!’ and have lied about and demonised their other enemies.
I want freedom for Ukraine same as Palestine
Then you want Ukraine to be free from NATO, as opposed to being its yet another glorified military base meant to threaten the colonial hegemon’s enemies, to invade them, and to carry out terror attacks on NATO’s behalf.
Tebet
Tibet is not under serfdom. It was freed decades ago.
Hong kong
Good news. The colonial overlords in NATO have handed Hong Kong over a couple of decades ago.
just because the main empire in the west is on the fascism side of authoritarianism doesn’t mean I will cozy up to other authoritarians.
Considering that it’s ‘authoritarians’ who have contributed the most to anti-colonial liberation, this is a a massive self-report.
Going to mention right away that Occupied Koreans speaking well of the DPRK can be punished by law.
But also, given that people in the DPRK are not under the sort of government-induced oppression that the colonial government of the Occupied Korea forces its people to endure, like prevention of access to housing and healthcare, one has to ask, ‘what good is supposedly being able to speak about “government abuse” if it’s just going to be ignored’? (And that’s assuming that the presupposition about speech under the colonial government of the Chaebol Republic is true.)
Also, I recommend you google things like ‘Park Dictatorship’, as you are probably unaware of things like that
‘Atrocities’ like ‘guaranteed housing’, ‘guaranteed access to healthcare’, ‘guaranteed education’, ‘massive increases in life expectancy and literacy rates’, ‘giving women basic rights’, ‘fighting against colonialism’.
Not the person that you were responding to, but I can and do.
Why are you so preoccupied with victims of colonialism, though, and why are you presenting them as even remotely as bad as NATO? And how do you think the rest of the world should be resisting NATO’s colonial yoke? What ‘bad things’ do you think people should be saying about either of the relevant countries/states.
It sounds awfully like you live in NATO, and that you like being a beneficiary of colonialism, and that you uncritically believe the same people who justify genocides and invasions with stuff like ‘Iraq has WMDs!’
Resisting colonialism is not evil.
It looks awfully like you engage in consent-manufacturing for colonialism, and that you uncritically believe things like ‘Iraq has WMDs!’/‘Iran has nukes!’/‘in the DPRK everybody has to have the same haircut, but also everybody is punished for having that haircut!’
If you think that opposing colonialism is ‘authoritarianism’ and, therefore, bad, but engaging in colonialism is somehow not authoritarian, then you are very silly.
Not the person you were initially replying to, but the sort of anarchists who are in favour of European (‘western’) colonial governments in Occupied Korea and British Hong Kong, and who are in favour of serfdom in Tibet, usually also generally just support colonialism elsewhere as well. Not that being in favour of colonial governments in Korea and elsewhere is in any way good.
