For me, Peter’s projection will always be in second place behind simply using a globe: keeps cardinal directions, easy to find precise coordinates with a ruler, correct continent significance while only using straight lines, simple, and easy to use.

To be honest, the only answer i have to say is: “we’ll see”. Wheter it’s nothing or not, the second option would imply that there is effectively something beyond what we know about the universe.
What even is the soul? YOU from now think very different than YOU from ten years ago. Can we say that those two people are the same? Not really. Yet you share common memories with this early you, who doesn’t exist anynore. Is it technically correct in this point of view to say that you are the reincarnation of you from ten years ago?
If someone in the far future were to think like you, to remember exact memories from yours, would act the same way you would act in the same situation, it would not we wrong to say they are your reincarnation, no?

No matter how i think about it, my guess would be that an “accidental conciousness” inside a neural network would be very different and very far from our kind of conciousness.
We inherited a large part of our reasoning from animal instincts and life. We like water, we know what water is, we can see water, we can touch water, we can doubt on the edibility of water, we can recognise the sound of flowing water, and this sound even gives us a feeling of comfort.
What concepts would a sentient neural network even be familliar with? It doesn’t see, smell, touch, ear, taste, it doesn’t have the feeling of stress, pain, boredom, joy, the thoughts it would potentially have would be very different from its training material, and would inevitably be very far from our common sense. How would it want to enter in contact with us, if it has no interface with the real world? How would it even understand its situation, or start a reasoning at all if it doesn’t get any concepts of reality?
I think the only way a digital consciousness would even exist would be directly from human intent. If we design a cyber brain, inject emotions, feelings, concepts, self-awareness and will, this is probably the only way to get something conscious relatively close to our way of reasoning, and with a maybe humane will of dominating the world and destroy humans because they are a threat for themselves.
When it’ll be too bad they’ll say something like: “you mean poors! YOU have destroyed climate, so NOW we do not allow you do own anything and we’ll monitor and restrict your use of everything to make sure you live in misery and stay unimpactful, while we can chill on our yachts and SAVE the WORLD. Be THANKFUL to us, the world would BURN without our action.”
The line can’t go down, and if climate itself dare to stop the growth, they better stop climate change.

Id say K first because developped countries and low poverty areas.
G second because i lived the island life for a few years and it’s pretty chill, beyond the underdevelopment and obesity.
H, B and E third, poor countries but not that bad, beyond overpopulated poor areas, Argentina is great and Mexico is good, US is neutral, Canada is win.
D and J fourth, you can live a decent life in those aera but with a very large bit of luck, majority of people live in poverty, oppression, or starvation. South Africa has some racism, but it’s not that bad as a place to live.

Not really. Time flies fast, they are newborn today, but in 60 years, they’ll be the elderly every yougster wished do be (if there’s no war) and we, will be the misunderstood great grandfathers who lived an unknown time.
Whatever the world would become, they would live an interesting but very harsh time of population shrinking, due to demographic transition (except african children), and even if we fear about their early ipad brainrotting process, they’ll figure out how to make their way in life, because it’ll be chaos if they don’t.
They’ll be the beta generation who were born with the ol’ AI generative tools, knew a bit about life without mass surveillance, lived the VR revolution, and worked to make nuclear fusion possible. (some guesses about future, let’s be optimists)
