I wasn’t hit according to the public script but I am definitely rethinking my use of Arch and most certainly refraining from the AUR as much as possible going forward. This is far too many events in such a small period of time for me.

Turns out most of my sensory problems have to do with my hair and my face. As long as I’ve had my coffee (start up metabolism and keep me warm after leaving the shower) I can stand 5-10 minute “body showers”. I also have music or YouTube running on my speaker and a heater running in the bathroom. I can FINALLY regularly shower, in my 20s. Washing only my body also doesn’t seem to feel like the transition that getting my head soaked does.

A lot of people are nervous to talk about hygiene, because NT people simply do not understand the struggle it can be for neurodivergent people, especially those of us on the spectrum. But I think it’s important so we can share our strategies, and shame about it just isn’t good.

People don’t steal for no reason. It is usually desperation, a last resort. If we remove the pressure causing people to feel that stealing is their only option, people won’t steal. I fundamentally believe in providing people their basic needs (food, clothing, shelter) because it makes these problems irrelevant. Ex-cons will tell you themselves that they felt they had absolutely no other option to keep themselves or their family alive. Give them the other option.

As for your fear bait, I’m more scared of dying via car because it’s FAR more statistically likely than your invented scenario.

I have learned very little about this because it’s extremely obvious we are learning a politically spun version of the story to drum up a hysteria. Not interested in being involved in that.

It is also completely true and well-known that in Canada you do not have unlimited rights to take a life as soon as someone crosses an imaginary border, as you might in the States. I think that’s fine, and the fantasy of “defending yourself” is an American invention of hyperindividualism. The very same that has been absolutely ripping apart their society at the seams. Not really interested in following in their footsteps there.

Because it’s just not very good anymore. Their coffee is acceptable again, but their donuts are mediocre, and most of their food is just okay. I still like the breakfast sandwiches, though. And Timmies really tried to make their identity about how Canadian they are and that is not true at all anymore, so Canadians feel a little betrayed too. (This is not about their employees, but rather the fact that it they are now owned by an foreign private equity firm.)

The TFW thing is quite bad IMO, but specifically because they are exploiting those workers to an even greater degree by holding continued employment (and thus presence in Canada) over their heads.

Fair enough, it’s kinda unknowable, maybe you can see furry as a subset of art movements and stuff in general. Point is, there’s much more diversity than you might see on the surface. But it’s hard for me to offer you something concrete because I’m speaking from my experience browsing many different social media sites and imageboards. Creatives are much more likely to be furries, or maybe it’s the other way around, but the point is that the heart of the fandom is self-expression and art style is part of that, meaning there’s a staggering diversity if you look under the surface.

That was just outta my bsky follows, I couldn’t possibly claim to know every good artists or accurately represent the range of style with a list of links, but you get the idea. I’m biased just because of the type of art I like, anthro stuff is more my jam so.

Furries are also a part of the phoning campaign, I’ve seen it all over my bsky timeline. We’re (the sane ones, not the 18 year old puritans) all pretty upset over it because it’s pretty obvious this is yet another attempt to erase queerness online with the veneer of “protect kids” or whatever the fuck they’re saying now.
