Lifelong imprisonment and service to their community. An eye for an eye is not better than what they are doing. Let’s be better and offer the punishment with the humanity they are unwilling to grant their enemies.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•where the hell is it the norm to talk to your previous employment supervisor??
5·3 days agoThat sounds US specific. I’m from Germany. You are free to ask away, just can’t write bad shit into a letter of recommendation. But you can always offer the call you which is usually a hint not to hire somebody without talking to them.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•where the hell is it the norm to talk to your previous employment supervisor??
11·3 days agoThis is a common litmus test. If you parted on good terms you would not object. Its not about the how, but about your reaction. If I see someone flinch I will ask more in that direction and if someone is avoiding and does not seem honest I actually call and ask the full story.
The truth usually resides somewhere between the two stories and that and depending if I think I would want to work with that person, I will hire them. In rare cases with an extended probationary period.
In your situation I would just answer: sure why not? But I don’t have any way to contact them myself, but I can offer the name and company name, so you have something to go on.
If your well has conductive tubing, measure the capacity. It changes with rising and falling water levels.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Parents, would you take a bullet for your children? People with parents still alive: How would you feel if your parents died protecting your life?
15·5 days agoEven before my undying love for my children and the endless sacrifices I’m willing to commit to for them: purely for egoistic reasons I would take that bullet, because living with the pain of losing a child would keep me alive while suffering like nobody should ever suffer while being needed alive for your other children.

Google Pixel@lemmy.world•Pixel6Pro went bad overnight, doesn't bootEnglish
2·8 days agoIf unlocked, sideloading would be a way to boot a live image or a custom recovery. There should be a way to reflash the complete phone to factory defaults from an image you can download.
But it sounds looks your storage got corrupted somehow which is not a reason to trust the hardware after it works again.

Google Pixel@lemmy.world•Pixel6Pro went bad overnight, doesn't bootEnglish
2·8 days agoI noticed you haven’t tried adb. Install android tools and look for a binary specifically called fastboot. Boot into fastboot mode and connect the phone. Run fastboot devices and look if it lists. If it does you have some options.
As for data, is your data backed up / synced somewhere? Or do you need data recovery?

News@lemmy.world•New research shows how shunning ultraprocessed foods helps with aging
9·11 days agoAs someone who recently had to restrict to less processed foods and no meat and dairy: comes automatically for a time as your body needs time to adjust to the humongous volume of good you need to hit the same calorie limits. Less dense and less energy rich and takes longer to process results in some weird always hungry and always eating behavior for a few weeks and some humongous toilet plugging logs xD
Normalizes after a few weeks.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What cheap-ish bulk items would you buy for yourself and your home before an economic depression?
1·13 days agoYou just need some bees for pollination. Having multiples is a good idea for diversification of risc anyways. Apple trees usually need a couple of years to bear fruit though, so plan ahead.
Your specific tree might not be healthy or might just be too young. :)

21·15 days agoHe is demented, very far gone. His handlers enjoy that the peoples focus is somewhere else while they rig the system to collect the next 100 billion dollars.
Fine, but no need for pollution though.
