I’ve had this sub open in my browser for the better part of two years and was always bummed it never sustained much activity. I have a few more clips like this that I was waiting to process and submit but I never felt like I had a good place to host them. Catbox has problems in some countries and also doesn’t show thumbnails, so I was mostly holding out for native video hosting on-platform.

Keep an eye on the Mega Crit news page for updates: https://megacrit.com/news/ (or on the steam news feed for slay the spire / slay the spire 2 if you prefer convenience over platform sovereignty)
The rest of the art I had in queue (probably wouldn’t submit a few of them):

I had been hoping that it would be enough to keep the feed for this community [vaguely] active until StS 2
so much as expressing anger at what’s happening
Downvoting submissions that are appropriate, on-topic, and rules-following to the communities they’re in is not using the platform sensibly.
Votes determine people’s feeds, and people without the emotional self control to not manipulate other people’s feeds for their own emotional regulation make the feeds of everyone else worse and I’m so fucking tired of seeing it. This lack of respect for how voting interacts with what other people see just creates an echo-chamber because the visibility of anything appropriate-but-disliked gets suppressed. Childish tribalist stupidity to sabotage not just one platform, but EVERYTHING connected to it because we’re using interoperable federated platforms. To the best of my knowledge, having looked at how both lemmy and mbin process votes, none of the software involved here has sophisticated enough vote processing to enable people to use it in this way.
Then use the archived link that has been helpfully provided.
I think (and hope) people are downvoting you just because of the content of the article and not really paying attention to where it was posted.
Yes, it was my mistake to once again think that people might use the platform sensibly. On the other hand, maybe submitting should continue until platform usage improves.

The closest equivalents I know of are Nebula (which doesn’t do [live] streaming, and avoids moderation problems by just having no user discussion), and Floatplane. Even though each of the two platforms is “successful”, afaik creators that use them still do so only as a secondary platform on top of their primary platform (YouTube). Based on that I’m not sure displacing (as opposed to augmenting) one of the big video/video streaming platforms is even practically possible right now without vc/saudi/gambling levels of money to burn.
Even Twitch – despite its not-exactly-amazing state – was not profitable as of 1.5 years ago: https://dotesports.com/streaming/news/twitch-ceo-confirms-company-is-still-not-profitable-but-amazon-has-been-extremely-supportive

She left a post about this on YouTube:
HELLO MY GREMLINGS!!!
I’ve spent a lot of time reading through your kind messages and heartfelt letters on both YouTube and Twitter and it’s been very healing!!Since its realllyyy present on my mind right now and we’re about to have a hard reset with some streams in between, I just wanted to get some words out while it was still fresh 🙂↕️ [MHL: I assume this is actually the nodding emoji and my system just doesn’t support it]
While I intend to talk more about the creative processes that went into the making and conception of the song on stream, I’m not really good at talking about emotions and feelings… So I don’t know how much of that I’ll cover 🥸
I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, basically since debut, that I wanted to put something out that means a lot to me.
Something that’s intrinsically a part of me, has shaped me, and at its core, is a part of who I am.
I think I wouldn’t be here today if not for gigipapa. He was my biggest supporter of all time!! He indulged in my love for anime, brought me and my friends to anime conventions, bought me strange wigs just because I wanted them, taught me about art, music, old television shows, the stars, and he never once questioned or belittled anything I wanted to do or any of the dreams that I had (even tho I was a rly cringe kid…. But u know… I was a kid)
I don’t talk about gigipapa on stream not for any strong reason, but mostly because I know it turns into a heavy topic and I typically don’t have the mental capacity to deal with that sort of conversation. It’s become a defense mechanism of sorts, you avoid talking about something long enough, you don’t have to deal with the awkwardness of having to have that conversation with someone on the street that you hardly know. It just gets easier to avoid it than it is to confront it.
So I hope you understand if I’m reticent to share or talk about these feelings as a part of my boundaries! That’s not to say I think you shouldn’t talk about it at ALL, but have some kindness if I noticeably avoid a question or a message just because I’m not in the headspace to do so.
But I think art is beautiful!! Art resonates with people in so many ways and affects them differently and speaks to them at different points in life. Art gives you a way to express yourself, all those feelings inside of you, concentrated and formed like a little ball into one thing. And once it’s done you can just shoot it out into the universe and close your eyes and pretend you didn’t do that!!
And I’ve always wanted to create something, a celebration of life, something that just screams “I’ll keep going!!!”
I don’t think loss or grief ever goes away, you carry a part of that with you every day. I once heard it described as, at first, it starts off really big, and it can’t stop bumping into the walls and causing you to get upset. But over time it gets smaller and smaller, and it stops bumping into the walls as much, but every once in a while it’ll hit the wall and remind you it’s there.
Thinking about it in this way had helped me a lot in the beginning, and I do believe that you become stronger. You carry those good times with you and it gives you hope for a better future, sometimes things are bleak and you don’t know if there’s any way of digging yourself out of that hole and you’ve resigned to sitting at the bottom of it. Even though it’s hard, I hope you’re able to find a reason to stand up, and know that I’ll be cheering you on!!!
Thank you for entrusting me with your words and stories, I’m happy you’re all here in the shoebox with me!!

I maintain queues for places I actively submit in, but I actually exhausted mine with this link (not much gets published over the weekends). My current rotation of satire sources:
https://chaser.com.au/ https://theshovel.com.au/ https://www.betootaadvocate.com/ (often has thumbnail problems) https://www.thebelltowertimes.com/ https://theonion.com/ https://clickhole.com/ https://thehardtimes.net/ (seems to have died with Charlie Kirk) https://hard-drive.net/ (seems to have died with Charlie Kirk) https://www.mcsweeneys.net/ https://newsthump.com/ (partial paywall - please provide an archived link alongside the original submission if you use this source) https://theneedling.com/
Was evaluating adding this one in too: https://waterfordwhispersnews.com/
Nobody ever asked, but since I’m dumping everything else right now I might as well dump this alongside it too; the reason I made a consistent effort to submit here and not on the sister community on midwest.social is because although admins can run their instances how they want I didn’t personally like how midwest.social was run:
It had been my hope to slowly displace it as the dominant onion community in the long-run, at least while the assumption of the admin(s) of this instance being preferable held true.
Embrace satire (it’s fun!) and truth (it’s important!); reject tribalistic misinformation and inappropriate voting that ruins other people’s feeds. If you don’t, it will poison the platform and devolve it into more of an echo-chamber than it already is.
Based on current trajectories and the information I’ve gathered after 2 years of active use, I’m no longer convinced that the current threadiverse has a realistic chance of working out and I’m tired of trying (but it’s always possible that I’ll be proven wrong, or that it’s already good enough for you personally). Good luck!
