    Claude directly has over 1100000 lines of direct code contribution. It has pretty much the same amount of code committed directly as the creator has.

    His entire coding history before Claude consisted of changing readmes or searching and replacing project name text or modifying a dead link to his own link.

    Suddenly in 4 months, without ever producing actual code before, he becomes a very competent coder enough to tackle mCAD, a notoriously difficult coding task that takes many many years with teams to make meaningful progress on?

    That is vibe coding.

    And his co-contributer “gianlucafiore” is exactly the same story. Has literally only made issues until LLM coding got released and then late 2025 (December) switched to making commits that he badly copied from an LLM such that some of the commits are literally one full line (as direct in-file working of the LLM wasn’t as accessible then)

    That is vibe coding.

    So the top 3 contributes are

    1. An LLM
    2. Someone that only has committed any code via an LLM
    3. Someone who has only made issues before beginning with an LLM and submits clearly generated code

    There is likely no human-made code in the entire project besides changing a couple links.

  • Not limited to large capacity, but to low-density applications where size isn’t critical. Also anywhere that very cold weather is likely

    So no wearables, phones, etc… But more stationary applications.

    But solar mesh nodes (home or agricultural/industrial), off-grid pumps, power banks (camping style), home solar storage, lead acid car battery replacements, weather stations, electric toothbrushes, lights/lanterns, light tools like laser levels, toys and RC cars/boats, etc… Things that traditionally used alkaline batteries (often recently switching to Lithium for recharging) are often good applications.




  • Most laptops and computer monitors are LCD (by an extremely large margin)

    Dark mode draws MORE power that way because people turn their screen brightnesses up to see anything. Meanwhile I can use light mode on my computer during the day with screen brightness on 5% and see just fine. Less eye strain too with a soft cream background or even beige and black text.

    Plus then my eyes don’t get burned up when browsing to an app or website that doesn’t have built in dark mode support.





  • It looks like you may have some shorts.

    But USB 3.0 is way more strict than 2.0. You essentially need twisted cables for the data line pairs at approximately the right impedance. It is way more finnicky to get working reliably.

    You are likely getting massive amounts of crosstalk now with the cluster of untwisted cables going everywhere.

    Try unsoldering the top side, using thinner cables to not get shorts, and looking up a pinout. Then twist all of the data pairs with each other and cleanly solder back on. The check for shorts between every neighboring pin.

    It is possible that you might be better off only soldering the cables needed for USB2.0 as audio is very small bandwidth and most audio devices run on 2.0.

    Also, solder them reverse from each other so the cable paths are straight so it is easier to see and wires don’t have to twist through each other.



  • OK, so if all house values have crashed at the same rate (generally what happens in cases like this), the equity that they lost doesn’t make much of a difference because they can buy a new, larger home with the difference still based on your new sell value.

    Of course, this can mean being “underwater” but that literally does not matter in the big picture (besides of course the mental burden of having to give more than needed to corrupt banks), provided that you are still able to afford the mortgage. 2008 included massive job loss which means people would have had to walk away from their mortgages even if their houses appreciated as people without jobs could not buy the houses.

    If you bought a mortgage you can’t afford because you wanted a house during a huge bubble, then you already fucked yourself regardless of the market. Or if you lost you job in a bad market (like now), then it is really unfortunate and the billionaires and companies need to be compelled to actually pay their taxes to keep the unemployment payments running.






  • Never buy a whoop. There are already now about 4 other alternatives.

    • Amazfit Helio Strap (literally more accurate heart rate than whoop, a bit less accurate sleep but those are a crapshoot for identifying REM anyways and it works with gadgetbridge)
    • Polar Loop (horrific heart rate accuracy, simply avoid, it is <50% accurate against their own gold standard chest strap
    • Garmin cirqa (early results by thequalifiedscientist look good)
    • Fitbit Air (subscription google health, avoid)

    That isn’t accounting no-names.

    Honestly, they should have just contributed to Gadgetbridge. But they couldn’t do that because this is a fully AI vibe slop app that was abandonware by the original slopist.

    Luckily, at least the developer had the AI output documentation regarding the Bluetooth protocol so maybe it will get whoop strap support integrated into gadgetbridge.



  • Some of it might be practical.

    E.g. selling knit plushies or hats so people in your community get food quality items and at the same time you get more funding for your hobby and don’t have 100 hats lying around.

    But yeah. I dream of an alternate reality where I could just go borrow a community oscilloscope when needed for a project since I don’t have the €450 right now to put to that. (My projects require at least 100 MHz 4 channel and might as well spend the extra 50 for a good Siglent with 10x more memory depth)
