This is a prime example of the fallacy fallacy, and maybe also ad hominem.

The fact that someone says ridiculous things like “women are dishwashers”, doesn’t mean that their thesis “there is a male loneliness epidemic”, is incorrect. Additionally, if their arguments are completely wrong, it doesn’t automatically mean their thesis is wrong.

Furthermore, I personally do think that there’s a male loneliness epidemic. While people like Andrew Tate are definitely having a bad influence, we should think, “why are these people popular? What draws young men to listen to misogynists?”. And the reason (I think), is because young men are simply neglected by society, and are generally quite lonely. As a young man myself, I think it is actually kind of hard to make friends. Other men expect me to be “masculine” (aka, be an asshole, be tough, etc.) and simultaneously I’m very reluctant to make friends with women, because I’m kind of scared of falsely being accused of sexual harassment.

I feel like if I say or do the wrong thing (which excludes physically harassing someone), there’s a risk of a woman completely ruining my life by simply accusing me of harassing her. And while the accusation might not become a proper conviction (or even prosecution), the accusation itself is already incredibly harmful for my reputation.

So to avoid that altogether, I simply avoid women in general. Or at least, I don’t approach them. I don’t talk to them, unless they talk to me first. Because if I make the wrong move, if I look at them the wrong way, my life might already be over.

Does this mean I hate women? No. It simply means I hate how people immediately jump to conclusions when they read “man accused of harassing a woman”. Personally, when I read that headline, I don’t immediately think less of that man, unless he’s been found guilty of it.

Does this make me an incel? I don’t really know; I don’t think I’m owed sex in any way, and I don’t think women inherently hate me the moment they see me. I do wish I could have a more feminine friend circle, because it’s currently all men. But yeah, I think things are kinda fucked up right now, but simultaneously I honestly don’t really know what I (or we as a society) could do to fix this.

Honestly, I think winter, because while I can easily protect myself against the cold by wearing thick, warm clothes, I can’t really protect myself agains the heat. Even if I walk around naked, it’s still gonna be hit as fuck.

Bijzonder om te lezen wat hier gebeurd is (niet op negatieve wijze ofzo).

Ik ben ergens wel trots op het feit dat onze inlichtingendienst zo goed is; ze zijn qua cybercapaciteiten ongeveer op het niveau van de CIA, trainen volgens dit artikel dus erg belangrijke spionnen voor de Oekraïeners en hebben in het algemeen ook een hoge reputatie op het wereldtoneel.

Ik ben waarschijnlijk een minderheid, maar ik vind dit wel jammer. Vuurwerk afsteken vind ik zelf wel een mooie traditie; ik besteed er geen duizenden euro’s aan, maximaal €50,- ofzo.

Helaas kan een groep mensen niet op een veilige & fatsoenlijk wijze omgaan met vuurwerk, waardoor dit soort maatregelen nodig zijn.

Vanmiddag ging ik naar Amsterdam, ondanks dat ik geen fan ben van onze hoofdstad (eigenlijk ben ik een enorme hater van A-dam lol)

Maar voor deze keer maakte ik een uitzondering om me uit te spreken voor iets wat me zorgen maakt. Namelijk de toenemende populariteit van het fascisme in Nederland en andere landen.

Er hing een gemoedelijke sfeer; ik was initieel nog bang voor radicaal linkse groepen zoals antifa e.d. die wellicht geweld zouden gebruiken, maar ondanks dat ik de antifa vlaggen wel zag, is er niets misgegaan en heeft de politie (voor zover ik weet) nergens hoeven in te grijpen.

Ik ga eerlijk zijn: Het was fijn om omringd te zijn door allemaal gelijkdenkende mensen. Iedereen is pro-lhbti, pro-EU, pro-democratie, anti-Rusland, anti-Trump en het meest belangrijk, antifascistisch.

Ik ben teleurgesteld dat alleen maar linkse politieke partijen zijn gekomen. Ik had gehoopt dat NSC (die rechtstatelijkheid hoog in het vaandel heeft), de CDA (die vanuit christelijke waarden opkomt tegen het fascisme), evt nog VVD / D66 (liberalen die voor individuele vrijheid zijn en tegen totalitaire overheden), DENK (ivm pro-Palestina) en nog allerlei andere partijen.

Het baart me zorgen dat ik de indruk krijg dat een standpunt zoals pro-democratie en antifascisme, een links standpunt is. Het zou eigenlijk een brede, populaire mening moeten zijn in Nederland, maar blijkbaar vind alleen Links dit belangrijk.

Het gaat om het afschrikkingseffect.

De VS en Rusland hebben er zo’n 3700 en 5800 volgens wikipedia.

De reden waarom ze beiden veel kernwapens gingen bouwen (die beiden nu genoeg zijn om de hele wereld plat te gooien) is vanwege het idee dat als je tegenstander er veel heeft, dat jij er net zoveel moet hebben, omdat je tegenstander waarschijnlijk ook heel veel capaciteiten heeft om kernwapens te onderscheppen.

Dit is een domme wedstrijd en domme wapenwedloop, maar ik vrees dat het nodig is om een goede en sterke nucleaire stok achter de rug te hebben, om de Russen (en wellicht de Amerikanen) in toom te houden.

Het is duidelijk: Europa moet op eigen benen staan en het is tijd voor een verenigd Europees leger. Helaas is dat makkelijker gezegd dan gedaan, want er blijven nog een boel vragen over:

1. Wie bestuurt het?
2. Waar komen de soldaten vandaan?
3. Hoe zorg voor goede samenwerking & communicatie?
4. Hoe bouw je op korte termijn de afhankelijkheid af van de amerikanen?

En uiteindelijk vind ik zelf ook dat het weer tijd is voor de ouderwetse wapenwedloop met kernwapens. Frankrijk en Engeland hebben er gezamenlijk zo’n 400, maar ik vind dat als de EU z’n veiligheid wil garanderen, moeten we er minstens 1000 - 2000 kernkoppen hebben om een goed, fatsoenlijk afschrikkingseffect te hebben. Ik weet dat dit standpunt impopulair is onder links-progressieve kringen, maar in deze onzekere en onveilige tijden denk ik dat dit een nodig kwaad is.

Ik ben zelf lid geworden van Volt. Waarom? Simpelweg omdat dat de partij is waar ik het zelf het meest mee eens ben.

Ik ben zelf in het begin nog 2x naar een partijbijeenkomst gegaan, maar ivm gebrek aan tijd heb ik vrijwel al het contact met partijgenoten verloren. Ik krijg nog wel regelmatig emails van Volt, wat ik wel leuk vind, want dan blijf ik een beetje op de hoogte van wat er gebeurd.

It seems that while this update once again contains lots of (unncessary) AI bullshit, it also has some other positive changes, such as :

• More End-To-End encrypted functionality
• Improved file upload (apparently 6x as fast)
• Better performance
• Converting documents
• Native desktop client UI (hopefully the new appImage does work for Linux, because it does not work right now.
• Improved AppAPI for other developers to develop plugins / apps / extensions in different programming languages
• Added pronouns to account profile
• Right-To-Left text for the Arabic users (and whoever uses RTL instead of LTR)
• PGP/MIME support for Nextcloud Mail
• Chunked file upload on desktop app
• Improved OpenID Connect API

Overall, I am still disappointed by the direction towards AI that Nextcloud has taken, but I suspect that it makes them more money. Also, apparently large organizations / enterprises who pay Nextcloud GmbH for support, are also allowed to influence the roadmap of the software, which probably has something to do with jumping on the AI bandwagon.

However, despite this new direction, Nextcloud still does the job for me: Easy file syncing, with document collaboration, calendar, contacts and basically act as a whole replacement for Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace / whatever with little to no problems.

Looks like the arms race with nukes are back on the table… Ugh, whatever it takes to keep Europe safe I guess… I’d rather not have this, but unfortunately it seems like the 180 turn by the US and Russia’s agression is forcing Europe to do this.

Be aware that some member states (such as Slovakia, Austria and Hungary) are playing a big role in this, as they have explicitly stated that they do not want to stop consuming Russian gas due to the cheap prices.

While some member states (such as Germany & the Netherlands) are actively reducing the dependence on Russia, others are actively increasing it, which skews the average results and lead to articles like these.
