I’m glad this is finally policy, it’s frankly embarrassing that we still don’t have a capital gains tax. Just think how much revenue we’ve missed out on by not passing it ten years ago.
I also think support will build over time.

It sounds like the new plan is to put it in an industrial area outside of the main city centre, so a much better proposal than before.

I’d be so pissed off if I found out my phone was editing photos I took without me asking it to.

I had the same thought. Just tell them you can’t retouch your photos.

I’m guessing he wanted a ride home to get his spare key?

Not a bad start, but not exactly bold and decisive either.
I was hoping for a capital gains tax at long last.

I’ve got both actually, a wood burner and a gas stove run off 9kg bottles.
Wood burners are extremely cheap if you collect your own wood, and people just give shipping pallets away. Ours also has a wetback, so heats water as well.

Who’s the plonker now, Sean?

Weirdly enough, a modern wood burner is a lot better than a gas stove. I guess because the fumes are immediately vented outside?

I really find those numbers hard to take seriously, 53k per annum is almost the median wage. And almost 10k for each household that cooks with gas? Bollocks.
The health impacts of extra air pollution breathed in each house with a fire led to an annual cost of around NZ$53,400 (£23,000) to the New Zealand healthcare system and economy.

Yup. I genuinely don’t know what else they expected.

The son does seem to have a lot of political skill and experience, being the leader of an organisation such as Toi Te Tiriti, so it’s entirely possible he was legitimately working.
But yeah, not a good look at all.

I mean, yeah, organising a strike is kinda what a union does.
Why do they feel they need to strike, Luxon?
So, it sounds like we’re in a similar situation to Wellington with a huge backlog of infrastructure investment. Lovely.
Also, this guy apparently had Graham Bloxham of Wellington Live running his social media for a while, which seems like a shocking lack of judgement.
It hasn’t been announced in the link, but apparently Wayne Guppy has lost to Perri Zee in upper hutt.
Which I wasn’t expecting at all.

Those aren’t mutually exclusive, I’m sure this person is both nutty as a nut bar as well as being incredibly racist.

Yeah, that was straight up heavy petting.
And yeah, failing to follow the instructions of a flight attendant or captain is a serious offence.

Best I can do is the end of the month.
A little bit weird they grouped all three of those together.
