BYD, Geely, and GWM typically go through Euro NCAP. Tesla has refused to submit their vehicles to their tests which tells you everything you need to know and conveniently ensures you will always get the bullshit US rating if you search “NCAP Cybertruck”.

Given the existing safety issues with oversized trucks with low visibility or pedestrian impact survivability, I’m not at all surprised that a low-poly shitbox is somehow considered ‘good’ in the US which allows these kind of fuckass designs.

You want to tell developers from mass layoffs trying to pay rent that they would be ‘bored’ in a lower paying job? Or they are effectively blacklisted for being ‘overqualified’ in a slop addicted job market that refuses to pay for that expertise?

Excuse me but fuck all that. HR can absolutely make it clear if there is no-expectation of upward movement or pay increase for the job. Sure HR can and should give lesser experienced applicants a chance if they meet the criteria, but outright denying one based on being ‘over-qualified’ is, and always has been, bullshit.

Not the house part directly but I got the work part repeatedly after graduation from my own family (who are renting). It was constant verbal harassment about laziness and ‘not wanting to work’ under threats of being kicked out onto the street. Stopped only after a job agency they picked had every partnered employer reject me and my degree for 6 months straight. The only reason given was a paradoxical “overqualified and under-experienced” which is to say the boomer retoric of “degrees = jobs” was fatally backwards in an era where employers only offered minimum wage for the job responsibilities of 3 people.

Took 4 years after university to land my first job and only as a contract labor hire on an assembly line in late 2019… FML. Spent the past 5 years of underpaid work forcing my way back into software QA just in time for the era of slop… FML part 2. I now make decent money and live with my partner but to my parents it’s like those 4 years of victim blaming never happened and my success is magically attributable to their ‘support’.

TLDR: It is absolutely a real mindset still driving boomer cognitive dissonance with reality.

I wish outlets would stop perpetuating the bullshit unemployment metric and instead use ‘Functional Unemployemnt’ becuase that’s at a whopping 25%. That is to say 1 in 4 people are not paid a living wage and are effectively below the poverty line.

GrapheneOS has had Memory Integrity as a mandatory feature for a while now and is part of why they wont support the Pixel 11. Apple Silicone also has this built in and enabled. If anything, Microslop is very late to the party and I have suspicions to why.

See, the only actual issues this causes is that poorly implemented memory alloc/free calls in software no longer fly under this security requirement. Decades of shitty apps (including slop) may crash with security exceptions if they haven’t managed their memory right.

The fact they set the leases out to 2035 cements their lack of interest in fixing anything. For the devs left behind, I cannot imagine the constant demoralising image of another company inhabiting the skeleton of where their friends used to have jobs. This on top of knowing full well that it’s only a matter of time before joining the back of the insurmountable line of laid off developers (and not just in games).

I’m not sure how anyone in AAA stays sane anymore. So many of the people I follow in games have been reduced to beggers just to pay rent.

Corporations spent hundreds of billions on LLMs to crator the value of skilled labor, justify mass layoffs, and launder stolen content, all to cut cost. Whether it’s legal regulations or basic human rights, in the eyes of sycophants, any perceived risk to their profit margin is deemed unacceptable including their own employees.

Smaller companies are themselves not meant to survive and intended to diversify legal risks and consequences (e.g. Alphabet and Meta split from Google and Facebook). This way they can be dismantled and sold once the legal baggage becomes unprofitable without risking the wealth that has long since been funnelled to its ‘legally distinct’ owners. The collateral damage to the now unemployed is simply one less thing off their balance sheet and is much easier to do when you have home turf legal corruption advantages.

So no, it’s not about generating stable wealth long term as it is about capturing any source of capital by any means necessary, legality and morals be damned.

It’s not even a competition thing anymore. It’s corporate ecosystem lock-in and humanity’s aversion to change even if it means staying in the most abusive techno-fascist relationships in recorded history. If the bar of entry to Linux was lowered into the floor with an objectively better experience, people still won’t switch until something forces them to.

This sounds like OpenID with extra steps. A signed JWT could serve the same purpose without reinventing the wheel and inherit all privacy and scope controls out of the box. For example, a site can send a userid and challenge that I hash before authorising my identity provider to attach a signed age attestation to. Provider can’t see the hash contents and the site only gets to see the pre-verified age in the JWT and nothing else identifiable (could even be a regional yes/no of-age value or content flags).

All that said, you’d be hard pressed to find any company that wouldn’t immediately regect something that could not be collected, sold, or abused. The law was never about the children in the first place and they’re not about to have a change of heart on that any time soon.
