I’m hoping the game will be released on GOG as I wouldn’t buy a game I’ve already owned on console on Steam since it wouldn’t be DRM free.

I guess the old one might feel really old if it’s your first Final Fantasy.

Even the remakes feel a bit dated in a way (not graphically).

As long you can still play the old version with your old save, I don’t see the problem.

Although I wonder what the new version introduces…

I might replay FFVII at one point after getting the third episode of the remake. It’d be a nice way to spot the differences in the story…

I guess you’re right and you could also say that I didn’t really own these games since I can’t play them anymore because I don’t have PSPlus anymore.

I don’t have the Playstation plus anymore but I never payed above 70$ and got a lot of free games with it.

Still, it wasn’t worth it to me as I mostly play single player games except some racing sims…

What made you despise Sony? I’ve had a good experience over 5 Playstation generations so far. I would just hope they don’t end up having a monopoly over the console market (exc’uding Nintendo). That’s why I’m happy about the Steam Machine.

I guess the disappearance of a physical Bluray player is gonna make me jump to 100% Linux gaming soon anyway.

As I already have a Playstation 5 for demanding games (and my kids playing Fortnite and Roblox sadly) and a Steam Deck for less demanding games, I really don’t know for sure if I’m gonna get a Steam Machine.

Its price and the way it integrates with my Steam Deck might be a deciding factor.

To be honest, I’m quite happy it isn’t out yet as it’s pushing my FOMO away.

I guess the wise decision would be to buy every game on Playstation physical, sell them and buy them again on Steam Machine 2 instead of getting a Playstation 6. Espace especially because I’m only using the Playstation for racing games (too demanding for the Deck) or exclusives…

What got me disappointed is that I heard so much about KDE customization and that it wasn’t buggy anymore.

I thought I’d be able to reproduce the vanilla Gnome workflow where you easily switch between workspaces. This with the advantage of things being customizable.

But it’s just too buggy and complicated for me…

I’m also trying to enjoy KDE as everyone is praising it and Gnome lacks a tiny bit of customization.

But I really prefer Gnome and feel really different than everyone on Lemmy.

So yeah a DE is more important than the distro to me.

Apparently a lot of games don’t have DRMs on Steam. The only thing missing is a badge indicating this.

So at least you own these…

Yeah the two last games are really great and I enjoyed them so much on Steam Deck.

Well from what I saw in Gardiner’s review of the video, Linus was encouraging people to use Linux.

Both console faming and PC gaming have their advantages.

As an adult, I feel like I wouldb’t really need a console anymore.

With kids, I feel like it makes my life easier if they can just play on the Playstation under supervision.

Steam and its ecosystem are great but they haven’t reached the same level of user friendliness a Playstation has.

Of course it gives you more freedom and a PC lets you do so many things a console doesn’t.

The Steam Deck, while being probably the most user friendly PC you can get, has made me encounter problems I haven’t met on consoles related to inputs, scaling, display or other stuff.

For now, I’m happy with a Playstation 5 and the Steam Deck even if I probably will fully switch to Linux gaming in the future once my son is old enough to safely use a PC.

As much as I love my Linux workstations and my Steam Deck, nothing beats the simplicity of my Playstation 5 when my son wants to play a game or I want to play something too demanding for the Deck.

With a console you have nothing to set up and you have an unbeaten simplicity.

Maybe the Steam Machine will challenge this, but I think people are often forgetting how good consoles are despite costing a bit more than in the past.

Also don’t forget about physical games that you can resell if necessary.

Well there is something kind of exciting about running Linux on Apple or Surface hardware once it gets really cheap and isn’t supported anymore.

Of course, if you buy it new, it’s different.

For me, it’s either I get Linux friendly new stuff or dirt cheap Apple/Surface hardware in second/third hand…

Well for me it’s good news for when these devices won’t be supported by Apple anymore and they’ll become really cheap.

Although the fact that most of the parts aren’t replaceable is also a problem in that case…

Oh yeah I forgot this one. I enjoyed it too.

Having one launcher isn’t a problem for me. Steam’s OS’s launcher even allows me to launch GOG games through Heroic without even really launching Heroic.

Where it starts being a problem is when individual games need their own launcher…

I see the launcher as the system menu in a console…
