People didn’t care that betamax was technically better quality. You couldn’t record an entire sports game on a betamax tape.

The only time I heard of a line for a video game was one of the WoW expansions, but I never played those games. I guess it made some sense because, being a live service game, there was an element of value attached to how soon you got access to a shared world.

You seem to want the guarantee of high availability servers but expect to claim ownership of the data. You never owned the data, and you don’t now.

If you buy a CD with software and it gets shipped to your house, you own the disc, not the software. It’s always been this way, we are just now living in a world where the technology exists to take the software away from you after you paid.

From what I understand about Japanese work culture, no, I don’t think that would be a realistic option.

I live in a country with much better worker’s rights then Japan or the US. I’ve gone through disputes with employers. I can tell you that it’s rarely worth the battle. And if you do “win” you wouldn’t want to work at that place any longer. If it’s about something that could pay out big, it’s usually better for your mental health to have left that place a long time ago.

Being realistic is knowing when it’s better to move on and find a better job. Sticking around just so you can “win” a legal battle will just make your life miserable.

Or just take the hint and get another job. Not saying it’s right, but you need to be realistic.

The comics don’t continue anything. They add a bunch of shit that didn’t make sense and then end the run without solving anything.

And then never get hired by any company again.
