Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's that one story you always wanted to share with people but never had the opportunity?English
11·2 days agoWhen I was around 9 or so I went on a road trip with my mother, grandmother, and sister. I believe it was the time we went to Savannah, Georgia. It was the second day of driving around noonish and we were thinking about getting lunch. At this point we were in southern North Carolina and for the past couple hours of driving we’d seen a number of billboards for some barbecue restaurant. So, the adults decided that’s we might as well try it.
Once we actually get to the place it’s a little run down and it’s also obvious that it used to be a Burger King in the 90s. Upon entering the little area that old Burger Kings had before the main room it’s clear that they’re using it as a kind of gift shop. However, it’s not a normal gift shop. It’s all pro-Confederate literature and memorabilia. We really should have left at that point, but my sister (about 1 year and 10 months old at the time) was getting pretty cranky, so we went against our better judgement and went in anyway. The food ended up being awful. The meat was overcooked and dry. Additionally, the only sauces they had were mustard and a mustard-based barbecue sauce.

Linux@programming.dev•Has bad branding ever turned you off from software, FOSS or not?English
191·3 days agoI’m reminded of this one distro that I can’t remember the name of, but the dev went full Qanon and that was all over their website. Like the distro was actually bundled with Qanon materials.

KDE@lemmy.kde.social•Why does Krita not use my Plasma scheme?English
17·8 days agoMy understanding is that Krita has custom color schemes to provide a more neutral environment that won’t affect the user’s perception of the image. It’s a thing that a lot of other image editors, especially the ones aimed at professionals, do.
Yep, that’s it.
This reminds me of another Tumblr post. The poster was also a trans man and he was using a homemade packer, but is slipped out while he was walking down a hallway at school. Unfortunately, a teacher just happened to be passing at the time and saw it happen. The teacher just flatly said “Man, I hate when that happens.”

Bazzite@lemmy.world•Using themes on gnome- bazzite?English
6·13 days agoFrom what I know, GNOME doesn’t officially support themes and the developers are very adamant that you don’t use them. If you really want to customize your desktop, then you’ll probably be better off with KDE. Do note that while you can rebase your current installation it’s recommended that you completely reinstall the operating system.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Bazzite or Fedora for Skyrim moddingEnglish
2·16 days agoThey have ISOs with Nvidia stuff pre-installed. I haven’t used it, though.
Are you on Plasma 6.5 yet? That’s supposed to be one of the new features.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When you find a creator that you like do you want to immediately see everything they've done? Or do you space it out?English
2·19 days agoI’m autistic and I have ADHD, so it’s a bit of a toss up. Sometimes they demand I go through an entire thing in a day. Other times it’s years later and I’ve barely made progress. I never know what I’ll get, but it’s more likely to be the latter if there’s more content. When there’s a long backlog my brain tends to check out earlier because it’s too busy focusing on everything I haven’t done yet.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Plasma TV recommendations? Looking for a decent 50+ inch display for older consoles.English
3·21 days agoSceptre’s pretty good, but their speakers sound cheap. I recommend using an AV receiver and external speakers if going with them.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Bazzite or Fedora for Skyrim moddingEnglish
9·22 days agoI found a guide on setting up Bazzite for modded Skyrim. I don’t know how accurate or up to date it is because I don’t have Skyrim, but it’s probably a good place to start.
Another option is Nobara. It’s Fedora-based and gaming focused, while not being immutable. Additionally it’s developed by Glorious Eggroll himself.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Night time color temp not changing since update, KDE PlasmaEnglish
8·24 days agoI did some research and couldn’t find anything recent that fits your issue. However, using your time settings gave me a tinted screen even though it should still be considered day time. Changing the sunset time to 11:59 PM made it work correctly, but setting it to 12:00 AM or later made it change early. I think this is probably a bug.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Night time color temp not changing since update, KDE PlasmaEnglish
2·24 days agoWhat distro and Plasma version are you using? Additionally, do you have it set for a specific time or based on location? If it’s the latter, then you need to check if geoclue2 installed.
Same.

Weird And Oddly Specific Playlists@sh.itjust.works•Does Anybody want to help me make a playlist about masturbation?English
5·1 month agoPictures of Lily - The Who
From Wikipedia:
Mark Wilkerson quotes Townshend as writing that the song is “Merely a ditty about masturbation and the importance of it to a young man.” However, the song does not mention masturbation explicitly.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Can somebody help me figure out why I don't have an option to set up a dual boot installation?English
1·1 month agoI’m not really sure what to do then. You might have better luck asking on the Mint forums.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Can somebody help me figure out why I don't have an option to set up a dual boot installation?English
4·1 month agoSeparate drives is safer since Windows might overwrite the bootloader when it updates. If you can’t do separate drives, then you want the second option on your screen right now.

It was a very surreal experience. Being a naive child from the north, I had no idea people and places like that still existed.
