Mind you, his trip to Thailand was before the Vietnam war even started IIRC, so he literally just went there to do experiments on racial control.

European neoliberalism by all accounts should be long dead and buried, but somehow the EU keeps trucking along, while being slowly drained before being destroyed / harvested by the Americans.

CTHlurker [he/him]@hexbear.netto europe@hexbear.net•Military spending splurge ‘risk factor’ for EU economy, says DenmarkEnglish1·10 天前Given how Burgerbrained our rightwing has become (they literally began talking about “woke” in the last election, without even bothering to translate it), I don’t think she is going to want to spend the money on other EU countries. I think she wants the big and shiny F35s that the Americans want us to buy, for a bajillion kroner a pop
CTHlurker [he/him]@hexbear.netto news@hexbear.net•Bulletins and News Discussion from July 7th to July 13th, 2025 - Sanctions on Russia: The SequelEnglish15·10 天前Wait what the fuck happened in Iraqi Kurdistan? I currently have a couple of friends visiting family members there, and I haven’t heard them say anything.
CTHlurker [he/him]@hexbear.netto europe@hexbear.net•Military spending splurge ‘risk factor’ for EU economy, says DenmarkEnglish3·10 天前Sure, and I agree that millitary spending is the least useful way to do keynesianism, but at the very least, if you are choosing to obey the Nato command and divert 5% of your GDP to millitary spending / preparation, then you should probably get to building factories rather than spending the money on American missiles and launch systems that lock you into a 30 year rentier contract. Like, if you’re going to spend the money on death and destruction anyway, at least make sure it’s being build locally so that the money isn’t just flushed into the toilet.
Obivously I should be happy that my evil ass country is doing a poor job of millitarising, but the lack of seriousness still bothers me on a fundamental level.
CTHlurker [he/him]@hexbear.netto europe@hexbear.net•Military spending splurge ‘risk factor’ for EU economy, says DenmarkEnglish7·11 天前See, there is a way to use Defense spending as a way to mitigate economic risk, but somehow I think that the dipshits in charge of the EU countries don’t care about the social fallout from massively downsizing public spending on non-millitary procurement. Like the fact that the EU doesn’t fucking make any weapons, should probably be a wakeup call, rather than a call to spend even more money on the US and their shitty overpriced fighter jets that crash when it rains.
CTHlurker [he/him]@hexbear.netto news@hexbear.net•Trump: If you side with BRICS, you will get an extra 10% tariffEnglish25·11 天前How are you even going to make the argument that you’re “siding” with BRICS? I know that Trump is a babybrain, but this is fucking weird, even for him. Like, does siding with BRICS mean you continue trading with China? Or does it mean you sell pharma-products for the beef-exporters in Brazil? Or does it mean you buy Russian oil? This is fucking insane babble from the king himself.

Zarah Sultana is one of the only decent british members of parliament. She seemed to have pretty good takes on most foreign policy issues, and her domestic agenda isn’t neoliberal, which makes her a dangerous muslim radical to most of the british owner-class.
CTHlurker [he/him]@hexbear.netto news@hexbear.net•UK government vote to go ahead with disability cuts.English18·17 天前yeah but that’s my point. You can show the St. Noncingtons School for Boys and Men the numbers that prove that their way of doing things is obviously not working. But even when shown the data, they just double and triple down to a degree that I struggle to fathom. And I hope that you guys figure out a way to make your leaders understand it soon, since it seems my prime minister is hellbent on following in your footsteps (I believe my country is currently where you guys were in 2014, so things aren’t looking good).

IIRC he lost to Lindsay Graham (can’t be arsed spelling his name) by something like 8 pcts. despite the entire republican party hating him, and the entire democratic party giving Harrison something like 90 million dollars to spend on a state with less than 3 million voters.
